Beginning Thursday, Oct. 24, access to Paradise Bay Road will be closed at State Route 104. All turns at Shine Road will reopen. The intersection will remain in this configuration for approximately three weeks. Crews will work on the northern side of the roundabout during this closure.
Project overview
This project improves safety along State Route 104 in Jefferson County at Shine Road/Paradise Bay Road and at State Route 19. At Shine Road/Paradise Bay Road, a single-lane metered roundabout will be built. The meter will be active only after a closure at the nearby Hood Canal Bridge. At SR 19, a single-lane roundabout will be built.
What to expect
All roadway work at the State Route 104/SR 19 intersection is complete. Crews will plant and seed this fall.
Work to build a roundabout has begun at Shine Road/Paradise Bay Road. Traffic at the intersection has shifted towards Paradise Bay Road as crews begin clearing work near Shine Road. Travelers may see one-way alternating traffic between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the project as well as intermittent traffic holds of up to five minutes.

This project will also have a short-term closure of access to Paradise Bay Road this fall. All roadway closures will be announced in advance.
