Project overview
The Modular Assembly Joints on the I-90 EB East Channel Bridge are deteriorating and have reached the end of their service life. Replacing the existing expansion joints will preserve the bridge’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
What to expect
Reduced speed to 45mph and a lane shift is in place to removed traffic off the failing expansion joint until it can be replaced. Lane closures will be needed to replace the joints, including weekend and overnight alternating lane closures on eastbound I-90. Details will be posted here when the work is scheduled.
The eastbound span of the East Channel Bridge on I-90 between Mercer Island and Bellevue, Washington will undergo expansion joint repairs in 2025. Restriping around the failing expansion joint took place March 16, 2024.
