Tacoma Narrows Bridge Tolling

map of Tacoma Narrows Bridge locationTolls are only collected for trips headed to Tacoma on the State Route 16 Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Tolls help repay the costs of construction to build the second span of the bridge which opened in 2007.

Toll Rates

  • Good To Go! Pass: $5
  • Toll Booth: $6
  • Pay By Mail: $7

Note: Vehicles with more than two axles pay higher toll rates.

Ways to Pay

  • A Good To Go! account is the cheapest and most convenient way to pay for tolls when you travel frequently on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Learn more.
  • You may pay with cash or credit card at a toll booth for $1 more. Use SR 16 exit 8.
  • Pay By Mail for $2 more. We'll take a photo of your vehicle and send the vehicle's registered owner a toll bill in the mail so you don't need to stop driving.

Exemptions

All vehicles must pay a toll except for emergency vehicles. Carpools, vanpools, motorcycles and transit pay tolls just like all other vehicles.

History

In 1998 voters approved construction of a second Tacoma Narrows Bridge between Tacoma and Gig Harbor to alleviate daily traffic backups and accommodate projected growth in population and employment. Construction began in 2002, and the new bridge opened in 2007.
