Passenger rail

Find information on how we manage trains in Washington and learn about train safety and the rules to remember when traveling by passenger rail.

Trains travel to 18 cities on the I-5 corridor between Vancouver, BC (Canada), Seattle, Portland and Eugene. Amtrak Cascades passenger trains are paid for primarily by ticket revenue, and by sponsorship from WSDOT and ODOT.

It is very important to stay away from railroad tracks. If you must cross tracks, only do so at designated crossings while following all the safety signage and rules.
