I-405, Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project - #9242

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are adding one new lane between SR 167 in Renton and Northeast Sixth Street in Bellevue to create a dual express toll lane system.

Lane closures

  • * Monday, July 13, to the morning of Wednesday, July 15 – The right lane and shoulder of northbound I-405 between North Southport Drive and North 30th Street will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • ** Monday, July 13, to the morning of Wednesday, July 15 – The right lane of southbound I-405 between Coal Creek Parkway Southeast and Lake Washington Boulevard Southeast will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Monday, July 13, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – The right lane of westbound I-90 approaching I-405 will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. 
  • Monday, July 13, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – The right lane of southbound I-405 between I-90 and Coal Creek Parkway Southeast will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • ** Monday, July 13, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – The right lane and shoulder of southbound I-405 between Northeast 44th Street and North 30th Street will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • * Tuesday, July 14, to the morning of Thursday, July 16 – The right lane and shoulder of northbound I-405 between Northeast 44th Street and Lake Washington Boulevard Southeast will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • * Tuesday, July 14, to the morning of Thursday, July 16 – The northbound right lane and shoulder of I-405 approaching the off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard Southeast will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • * Thursday, July 16, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between North 30th Street and Coal Creek Parkway Southeast will be closed from 8:45 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

WSDOT has granted time extensions for certain closures due to lower traffic volumes. Crews may take advantage of these extended work hours, if necessary, to complete all work.

* Times may be extended to 8 p.m. to 4:45 a.m. if necessary.

** Times may be extended to 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. if necessary.

Ramp closures

  • Monday, July 13, to the morning of Wednesday, July 15 – The southbound I-405 off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard Southeast will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.
  • Monday, July 13, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – The westbound I-90 ramp to southbound I-405 (exit 10) will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.
  • Monday, July 13, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – The southbound I-405 off-ramp and shoulder to Coal Creek Parkway Southeast will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place. 
  • Monday, July 13, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – The southbound I-405 on-ramp from Northeast 44th Street will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  A signed detour will be in place.
  • Monday, July 13, to the morning of Friday, July 17 – The southbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 30th Street will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  A signed detour will be in place.
  • Tuesday, July 14, to the morning of Thursday, July 16 – The Northeast 44th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.
  • Tuesday, July 14, to the morning of Thursday, July 16 – The northbound I-405 off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard Southeast will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.

City street closures

  • No city street closures are planned.

Trail closures

  • Ongoing through fall 2020 – The King County Eastrail will be closed in both directions between Ripley Lane North in Renton and 106th Avenue Southeast in Bellevue. Trail users will be detoured to the parallel Lake Washington Loop Trail.

I-405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector - #8811

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are building a new flyover ramp connecting the HOT lanes on SR 167 to the carpool lanes on I-405 in Renton. This ramp will improve traffic flow and safety at this critical interchange.
