WSDOT Maintenance

  • The Rosamond Bridge in Spokane over I-90 is closed in both directions until further notice due to delamination of the bridge deck. Drivers will need to detour via Lindeke Street to the east.
  • The Lindeke Street Bridge in Spokane over I-90 is restricted to one lane for bridge deck repairs. The repairs are anticipated to last until the end of June. A signal place at each end of the bridge will alternate traffic across the bridge until further notice.
  • Paradise Street in Pullman between SR 27/Grand Ave. and Kamiaken Street will undergo road repairs beginning Monday, June 14.
    • Monday, June 14 - Full closure of Paradise Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drivers will detour by either Olsen to Kamiaken Street or via Bishop to the south.
    • Tuesday, June 15 - Crews will restrict the left lane only on Paradise Street.
    • Wednesday, June 16 - Crews will restrict the right lane only on Paradise Street.
    • Thursday, June 17 - Crews will close Paradise Street fully in the morning before restricting a single lane in the afternoon in order overlay new pavement.
  • Crews will be closing westbound I-90 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tokio interchange east of Ritzville (MP 230) on Wednesday, June 16. Drivers will detour via the on and off-ramps at the Tokio interchange to avoid the detour.

 

2021 Eastern Region Chip Seal
Highway: Various Region: Eastern
Description: Construction of Bituminous Surface Treatment (BST), removing existing overlay from bridge decks, bridge deck repair, waterproof membrane, planing bituminous pavement, crack sealing, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) for pavement repair, pre-level. Crushed Surfacing Base Course (CSBC), Crushed Surfacing Top Course (CSTC), centerline rumble strips, fog seal, pavement markings, guardrail, guideposts, traffic control.

Progress: Starting June 14, crews will chip seal SR 274 followed by guideposts on SR 26 throughout next week.
Work Schedule: Rumble strips and chip sealing are expected to continue on SR 26 and SR 274. Drivers can expect delays with pilot cars to direct them through the work zones.

SR 261 - McElroy Coulee Crossing Replace Drainage Structure

Description: Improvement of SR 261 by removing an existing concrete bridge, constructing a new 4-sided split box culvert bridge, constructing and removing a detour roadway including a temporary culvert, HMA paving and striping, installing beam guardrail and flexible guideposts, and temporary traffic control.

I-90 - Harvard Road Interchange Improvement

I-90 - Geiger Road Interchange Reconstruction (MP 277.26)
Highway: I-90 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 277.26
Description: Improvement of I-90/Geiger Field Interchange/Exit 276. This work includes earthwork, roadway excavation and embankment, drainage, wetlands, CSBC, paving with HMA, illumination, ITS, erosion control plantings, cement curb and sidewalk, pavement markings, permanent signing, and traffic control.

Work Schedule: The westbound I-90 off-ramp is open to traffic. Access to the westbound onramp is also open and access to the westbound ramp roundabout will remain open in a temporary configuration while signing and striping is completed. Access to the eastbound on loop ramp from the north is open. Earthwork and installation of drainage structures on the eastbound roundabout is ongoing. The eastbound on and off-ramps will remain closed until the 4th of July weekend. Detours are in place to direct traffic around the construction site. Drivers can also travel south on Grove Rd. across I-90 to access the eastbound I-90 loop on-ramp. Drivers will not have access south of the ramp on Grove Rd. The eastbound on and off-ramps to and from I-90 remains closed to traffic along with northbound travel on Grove Rd. across I-90. 
Traffic Control: Detours are in place to direct traffic around the construction site.

I-90 - Medical Lake/SR 902 Interchange Improvements (MP 272.81)
Highway: I-90/SR 902 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 272.81
Description: Reconstruction of the intersections at the eastbound and westbound ramp terminals. This will replace the current intersections with roundabouts. Replacement and relocation of the intersection of SR 902 and Geiger Blvd. with a roundabout. Construction of a new bridge structure parallel to the existing overpass at I-90.

Progress: The bridge work is complete with the exception of the railing being installed the week of June 14. The existing bridge is in a temporary configuration between the east and westbound roundabouts.

I-90 - Lincoln Co. to BNSF RR Bridge - Roadside safety

I-90 - Tokio Rd. to Lincoln Co. Line - Paving

Description: This project improves 7.29 miles of I-90 by planing bituminous pavement, pavement repair, paving with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), guideposts, pavement markings, rumble strips, and traffic control.

Work Schedule:  Work is scheduled to begin on approximately July 12, 2021. The project is expected to be completed in approximately 50 working days.

I-90 - Sprague Ave I/C to Argonne Rd I/C - Paving

Description: Rehabilitates 4.3 miles of the existing asphalt pavement by grinding and placing 0.15 foot depth of asphalt on the driving lanes.  Expansion joint modification, spall repair, crack and joint sealing, HMA paving, inlet protection, erosion/water pollution control, remove/reset concrete barrier, adjust manholes & catch basins, grate risers, guideposts, pavement marking, traffic control, and bridge deck rut repair.

Description: This project constructs two prestressed concrete girder bridges, two weathering steel plate girder bridges, including grading, excavation, embankment, concrete retaining walls, noise walls and barrier, PCCP, HMA, stormwater, and drainage, curbing, guardrail, fencing, concrete barrier, sidewalks, illumination, ITS, signing and pavement markings.

Progress: Strip and backfill Pier 1 footing at Euclid, Retaining Wall 19 - build an embankment to the bottom of the wall, build forms for footing, and place rebar. North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC BNSF 2nd Railroad Realignment (MP 159.06 - 160.59)

Description: Construction of two railroad structures, BNSF shoofly, retaining walls, clearing, and grubbing, roadway excavation and embankment, HMA paving, installing curb and sidewalk plus utility work.

Work Description: Mainline slopes, ditches, track walking. ESL line – slopes, ditches, track walking. BNSF track crew on site. Fencing will continue. Install prefab handrail ladders on ESL bridge. Install prefab handrail on the mainline bridge.

SR 290 Spokane River E. Trent Bridge - Replace Bridge (MP 0.74 to 0.95)

Description: This project will construct and remove work access bridge, remove and replace the existing bridge, full-depth roadway reconstruction, utility adjustments, and upgrades, illumination, infiltration pond grading, stormwater upgrades, cement concrete ramps, and traffic island construction.

Progress: Retaining wall formwork. On the east side, crews will begin deploying turbidity curtains, build construction entrances, construct access ramp on east side. West side – clean up construction entrance, install turbidity curtain, excavate rock from Pier 2 casings to plan depth, place streambed cobble & sediment at Pier 2.

SR 290 - City of Spokane Valley - SR 290/Barker Road BNSF Grade Separation

Description: Improvement of Barker Road and SR 290 (Trent Avenue) Interchange. This work includes earthwork, roadway excavation and embankment, rock excavation, draining, paving with HMA, illumination, franchise utility relocation and installation, erosion control, seeding, cement concrete curb, sidewalk, pavement markings, permanent signing, traffic control, and one prestressed concrete bridge.

Progress: Project has begun and Barker Road is closed at the Trent intersection.  Wellesley Ave is closed in both directions between Trent and Campbell Road. Trent is one lane in each direction through the work zone.  Construction Signage is in place. The Contractor is continuing the roadway embankment on the north side of Trent. This will be the area of the new roundabout. Utility locations throughout the project will continue as needed.  Rock Blasting has taken place to make way for the road shift to the north.  The Contractor is excavating the rock from the blast and incorporating it into the fill.  A detour road is under construction from Barker for local business access.  The concrete for the Wall 2 foundation has been placed.
Work Schedule: The Contractor is working to build a roadway grade on the north side of Trent.  Work is continuing at Wall 2, along Barker Road south of the tracks. The detour road south of Trent, from Barker is under construction and is scheduled to be paved June 9th with traffic scheduled to be changed to the detour road on June 14th to access the businesses.  After the detour road is open, Barker can be closed just to the north of Garland.

Whitman

PCC Railroad Structure Rehabilitation and Replacement
Highway: Near US 195 Region: Eastern County: Spokane & Whitman 
Description: Rehabilitate bridges at MP 10.5 & 28.4, replace the bridge at MP 29.48 and replace the bridge at MP 23.89 with a culvert. This project involves roadway excavation, embankment compaction, scour repair and temporary stream diversion, driving steel piles, timber stringers, railroad ballast, treated timber superstructure and steel superstructure.

Progress: Seeding pushed out, punchlist.

Washington State Rural Rail Rehabilitation

Near SR 26, US 2, US 195 Region: Eastern County: Lincoln & Whitman Location: Hooper Branch MP 41.00 – 58.00, CW Branch MP 10.00 – 39.00, P&L Branch MP 12.00 – 29.28
Description: Improves three branches of the PCC Railway System. The Hooper Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, ditching, surfacing turnouts, and crossing rehabilitation. The CW Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, rail and OTM replacement, rehabilitation, and replacement of turnouts and crossings. The P&L Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, replace crossing and surfacing turnouts, rehabilitating of two timber structures, and replacing eight structures.

Progress: Suspension. The track is open. Punchlist and non-critical path items. Resume bridgework in July 2021 when HPA allows. CW branch - various crossings, joint rehab, and punchlist.
