2019 Eastern Region Chip Seal
Highway: SR 20, 26 Region: Eastern County: Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Adams, and Whitman 
Description: Crack seal, prelevel areas, pavement repair areas, bridge deck repair, rumble strips, and guardrail.

  • Work Schedule: Mon - Fri; 7:00 am - 6:00 pm
    • SR 20 - Republic to US 395 (MP 302 - 342.08) - ADA sidewalk ramps, crack seal slurry, crack seal rubberized, lowering utilities, pavement repair, bridge deck repair, and prelevel. Expect possible single lane closures with alternating traffic.
    • SR 20 - Narcisse Rd. to Spruce Canyon Rd. (MP 363.61 - 372.84) - Rumble strips. Drivers should be alert for flaggers and or pilot cars directing single-lane, alternating traffic with some delays.
    • SR 20 - South Fork Mill Creek Rd. to Tiger (MP 379.16 - 390.41) - Prelevel and rumble strips. Expect single lane closures with some delay.
    • SR 26 - Washtucna to LaCrosse Airport Rd. (MP 83.15 - 102.76) - Rumble strips and shoulder work. Expect some delays during construction with single lane closures. 
    • SR 26 - Dusty to Colfax (MP 116.74 - 133.53) - Expansion joint modification, paving, rumble strips, and shoulder rock. Expect delays during construction with single lane closures.

2019-2021 Eastern Regionwide Basic Safety - Guardrail
Description: Repairing and upgrading guardrail components. Removing re-directional landforms and installing the concrete barrier.

  • Work Schedule: Start date will be July 15. Work is currently suspended. Mon - Fri 6 am to 6 pm. Contractor to begin in Ferry County and move south. Possible single lane or shoulder closures in the vicinity of each location.

Eastern Region Pavement Preservation Work
Description: 
Pavement preservation by grind and overlay throughout sections of Eastern Region.

  • Work Schedule: Expect possible single lane closures with flagging.
    • Week of June 24 - SR 127. Expect delays

Adams

I-90 - SR 21 to Ritzville - Paving (MP 208.16 to MP 218.60)
Highway: 
I-90 Region: Eastern County: Adams Location: MP 208.16 to 218.60
Description: Restores 9.9 miles of the existing asphalt pavement by grinding and place 0.15 foot depth of asphalt on the driving lanes and shoulders. A reduced speed limit of 60 mph will be implemented during construction and enforced day and night. until completion in June.

  • Work Schedule: No traffic impacts. Minor cleanup items remain. Waiting on smoothness testing to be performed to determine if any further work is necessary.

Ferry

Keller Ferry Terminal and Pontoon Replacement North and South (MP 106.65 to 106.67)
Highway: SR 21 Region: Eastern County: Lincoln and Ferry Location: MP 106.65 to 106.67
Description: Construction to take place at the north and south Keller Ferry Terminals. Work will include replacing pontoons, decking, railing, and anchors.

  • Work Schedule: No current traffic impacts. The contractor is welding pontoon railing brackets, ladder, building crane pad and access ramp.

SR 21 - West Fork Sanpoil Bridge Replace Structure (MP 145.6)
Highway: SR 21 Region: Eastern County: Ferry Location: MP 145.6
Description: Earthwork, removing and relocating the temporary Bailey Bridge, removing the existing bridge and installing a new bridge with wing walls, paving with HMA, stream channel excavation and in water stream work, rock and boulder placing, woody material placing and other items.

  • Work Schedule: Work has begun to clear the work area and get ready to build the bypass road adjacent to the existing structure.

SR 21 - Curlew to Canada Flood Repair (MP 185.00 to MP 190.20)

Description: Slope and shoulder reconstruction, asphalt paving and guardrail replacement

  • Work Schedule: Hot mix asphalt was rejected last fall due to smoothness requirements. The contractor has developed a repair plan with paving scheduled to begin in June. Single lane closures will be implemented for repair work.

Lincoln

US 2 - Reardan to Espanola Rd. - Paving (MP 263.45 to 271.02)

Description: Restores 7.6 miles of existing asphalt pavement by grinding and placing 0.15 foot depth of asphalt on the driving lanes.

  • Work Schedule: Waiting for surface smoothness testing to be performed to determine if any further work is necessary. All further work may require only a shoulder closure.

Pend Oreille

SR 41/BNSF-POVRR Railroad Bridge (MP 38)
Highway: SR 41 Region: Eastern County: Pend Oreille Location: MP 38
Description: Replace the bridge over the railroad tracks just south of Newport, Washington, and Oldtown, Idaho. This bridge is jointly owned by the Idaho Transportation Department and WSDOT. This is an Idaho Transportation Department project.

  • Work Schedule: Construction has been going on since April. One lane will typically remain open in each direction over the bridge, though brief lane reductions may be necessary. Work on the northeast retaining wall and footings for the columns are underway. The new bridge is planned for completion in September 2019.

Spokane

2nd Ave W Bridge and 3rd Ave Bridge WB On-Ramps (I-90 MP 0.18 - 0.41 and SR 290 EW Ramp MP 0.03 to 0.26 )

Description: Planing, pavement repair, paving, bridge deck repair, and safety improvements.

  • Work Schedule: WB I-90 on-ramp closed to traffic. Detours are in place. When traveling south on Hamilton to enter WB I-90 please stay in the left lane.

I-90 Medical Lake/SR 902 Interchange Improvements (MP 272.81)
Highway: I-90/SR 902 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 272.81
Description: Reconstruction of the intersections at the eastbound and westbound ramp terminals. This will replace the current intersections with roundabouts. Replacement and relocation of the intersection of SR 902 and Geiger Blvd. with a roundabout. Construction of a new bridge structure parallel to the existing overpass at I-90.

  • Work Schedule: Public notification signs have been placed and utility relocation is in progress. The contractor will mobilize to the site on June 24, to begin clearing and grubbing operations in preparation of constructing the roundabout to the north of SR 902 and Geiger Blvd. intersection. Work will also begin on preparing for the new bridge structure that will parallel the existing bridge.

US 195 - Thorpe Road - Intersection Improvements (MP 94.44 to 95.44)

Description: Project will include earthwork, culvert pipe, quarry spalls, CSBC, planing, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), paving, guardrail, and illumination work.

  • Work Schedule: Work currently suspended. Monday through Friday, single lane closures. Northbound lane closures between 9 am and 5 pm. Southbound lane closures to happen between 6 am and 3 pm.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/Freya Structures (MP 162)

Description: Construct two mainline freeway bridges over Freya Street.

  • Work Schedule: The contractor has mobilized back at the site. Concrete finish work under both bridges. Minor delays are possible when passing under the structures on Freya Street. Additional punchlist items are being addressed including pavement grinding to create a smoother ride. Erosion control measures are also included as needed.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/Columbia to Freya (MP 161.1 to 162.3)

Description: Construct mainline NSC from Freya to Columbia. Contaminated material has been excavated on the north end of the project and samples are being tested. Minor drainage work. Erosion control work as needed.
