2019 Eastern Region Chip Seal
Highway: SR 20, 26 Region: Eastern County: Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Adams, and Whitman 
Description: Crack seal, prelevel areas, pavement repair areas, bridge deck repair, rumble strips, and guardrail.

  • Work Schedule: Project under suspension due to weather. The contractor will finish the fog seal next year.

2019 - 2021 Eastern Regionwide Basic Safety - Guardrail
Description: Repairing and upgrading guardrail components. Removing re-directional landforms and installing the concrete barrier.

I-90 - SR 21 to Ritzville - Paving (MP 208.16 to MP 218.60)
I-90 Region: Eastern County: Adams Location: MP 208.16 to 218.60
Description: Restores 9.9 miles of the existing asphalt pavement by grinding and placing 0.15 foot depth of asphalt on the driving lanes and shoulders.

  • Work Schedule: Minor cleanup items and gate installation remain in the aggregate source. Work is currently scheduled for Nov. 12 and 15. No traffic control anticipated.

I-90 - Danekas Rd. Undercrossing - Bridge Repair (MP 231.23 to 231.25)
 I-90 Region: Eastern County: Adams Location: MP 231.23 to 231.25
Description: Replaces damaged span of Bridge No. 90/332 (Tokio interchange) over westbound I-90.

  • Work Schedule: All work was completed on November 5. No further traffic impacts.

Keller Ferry Terminal and Pontoon Replacement North and South (MP 106.65 to 106.67)
Highway: SR 21 Region: Eastern County: Lincoln and Ferry Location: MP 106.65 to 106.67
Description: Construction to take place at the north and south Keller Ferry Terminals. Work will include replacing pontoons, decking, railing, and anchors.

  • Work Schedule: Substantial completion happened on October 1. No traffic control impacts at this time.

SR 21 - West Fork Sanpoil Bridge Replace Structure (MP 145.6)
Highway: SR 21 Region: Eastern County: Ferry Location: MP 145.6
Description: Earthwork, removing and relocating the temporary Bailey Bridge, removing the existing bridge and installing a new bridge with wing walls, paving with HMA, stream channel excavation and in water stream work, rock and boulder placing, woody material placing and other items.

  • Work Schedule: In-stream work is near completion this week. The contractor will continue to work on the topsoil at the top of the stream banks, building the soil lifts and the fence to protect the plantings from wildlife. Pieces of the irrigation system are being installed. Bridge girders are now set in place with the contractor working to connect the girders together by forming and placing concrete for the immediate diaphragms. The contractor is preparing the site for winter.

US 2 - Reardan to Espanola Rd. - Paving (MP 263.45 to 271.02)
US 2 Region: Eastern County: Lincoln & Spokane Location: MP 263.45 to 271.02
Description: Restores 7.6 miles of existing asphalt pavement by grinding and placing 0.15 foot depth of asphalt on the driving lanes.

  • Work Schedule: Remaining items of work include striping installation from bump grind repairs and ADA domes on one of the ramps. Waiting for contractor to schedule work. Striping will impact traffic for short periods of time.

Pend Oreille

SR 41/BNSF-POVRR Railroad Bridge (MP 38)
Highway: SR 41 Region: Eastern County: Pend Oreille Location: MP 38
Description: Replace the bridge over the railroad tracks just south of Newport, Washington, and Oldtown, Idaho. This bridge is jointly owned by the Idaho Transportation Department and WSDOT. This is an Idaho Transportation Department project.

  • Work Schedule: Construction that has been going on since April is expected to be substantially complete in mid-November. Early winter weather affected progress on the bridge, but most work will be done the week of Nov. 18. Other minor work will continue, such as the installation of lights, but is not expected to significantly impact traffic.

I-90 Medical Lake/SR 902 Interchange Improvements (MP 272.81)
Highway: I-90/SR 902 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 272.81
Description: Reconstruction of the intersections at the eastbound and westbound ramp terminals. This will replace the current intersections with roundabouts. Replacement and relocation of the intersection of SR 902 and Geiger Blvd. with a roundabout. Construction of a new bridge structure parallel to the existing overpass at I-90.

  • Work Schedule: Night work on the new bridge will begin Monday, Nov. 18 through Nov. 20. Crews will close one lane each direction of I-90 from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Night work will also happen on Nov. 26 from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. with single lane closures of I-90. Drainage work outside of the roadways north of I-90 will be completed during the next two weeks. Work to prepare the site for winter is ongoing.

US 195 - Thorpe Road - Intersection Improvements (MP 94.44 to 95.44)
Highway: US 195 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 94.44 to 95.44
Description: Project will include earthwork, culvert pipe, quarry spalls, CSBC, planing, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), paving, guardrail, and illumination work.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/Freya Structures (MP 162)
Highway: US 395 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: NSC MP 162
Description: Construct two mainline freeway bridges over Freya Street.

  • Work Schedule: Concrete finish work under both bridges. Reinstallation of girder stop pads. Could cause minor vehicle delays when passing under the structures on Freya Street.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/Columbia to Freya (MP 161.1 to 162.3)
Highway: US 395 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 161.1 to 162.3
Description: Construct mainline NSC from Freya to Columbia. Contaminated material has been excavated on the north end of the project and samples are waiting for final test results. Minor drainage work. Erosion control work as needed.

  • Work Schedule: The contractor is waiting to receive the barrier fence for the pedestrian path and will work to install it as soon as it arrives. The barrier at the south end of the project is formed and concrete will be placed. The contractor will be paving the area at the southern roundabout to connect the off-ramp. Building of the southbound on-ramp has begun by replacing the area of contaminated soil with clean material. Work on the southbound on-ramp will continue.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC BNSF 2nd Railroad Realignment
Highway: US 395 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: NSC 
Description: Construction of two railroad structures, BNSF shoofly, retaining wall, clearing, and grubbing, roadway excavation and embankment, HMA paving, installing curb and sidewalk plus utility work.

  • Work Schedule: Euclid is now closed for 14 days. Euclid Avenue will reopen Nov. 20 with the three years Wellesley Avenue closure scheduled for Nov. 20. Clearing and grubbing, rock crushing, excavate and export contaminated material is ongoing. Crews will install Market St. shoofly. At Rockwell Ave. work will remove asphalt, install water line, excavate and embank at the train car storage area. Continuing will be construction of the BNSF shoofly track and signal work at Euclid.

Spokane Area Traffic Volume Collection (MP 286.19 to 292.02)
Highway: I-90 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 286.19 to MP 292.02
Description: Upgrades and adds to the existing traffic data accumulation system.

  • Work Schedule: Work is progressing at Broadway westbound side of I-90. No impacts to traffic for current schedule of work.

PCC Railroad Structure Rehabilitation and Replacement
Highway: Near US 195 Region: Eastern County: Spokane & Whitman 
Description: Rehabilitate bridges at MP 10.5 & 28.4, replace bridge at MP 29.48 and replace bridge at MP 23.89 with a culvert.

  • Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 10 hour days. Track bridges 23.9 and 10.5 are open for shippers until Nov. 25. Contractor not on site currently.

PV Hooper Track Improvements
Highway: Near SR 26 Region: Eastern County: Adams & Whitman 
Description: Hooper railroad line at MP 25.79 to 41.60. This project replaces ties, rail, and OTM, places ballast, track and restores ditches.

  • Work Schedule: Ditch excavation, install rail and install new crossing at La Crosse.
