WSDOT Maintenance

  • The Rosamond Bridge in Spokane over I-90 is closed in both directions until further notice due to delamination of the bridge deck. Drivers will need to detour via Lindeke Street to the east.

Ferry

SR 20 - Sherman Pass RWIS Housing and Generator Rebuild

Description: Removing and replacing the thermoelectric generator, batteries, and housing of the existing SR 20 RWIS station, and placing a new propane tank concrete pad.

SR 21 - Wilbur Culvert Crossing Rehab and Repair

I-90 - Harvard Road Interchange Improvement

Description: Widening the structure over I-90 to add a northbound lane and realigning the westbound I-90 on-ramps to create better merging.

I-90 - Kramer Road Parkway Undercrossing

Description: Construction of a new crossing of I-90 at Kramer Parkway. Construction of two new intersections: one at Country Vista and one Mission Ave with Kramer Parkway.  (240 working days)

Progress: Excavation of infiltration ponds. Excavation and placement of Pier 2 and 3 footings, Pier 2 column placement.
Impacts: I-90 eastbound and westbound single lane closures between 7:00 pm and 4:00 am Wed. October 20, and Thurs. October, 21.

I-90 - Mullan Road Crossing -  Bridge Deck Repair

Description: Rehabilitate the existing bridge deck and perform additional depth deck repair as needed. Replace deck with a high early modified concrete overlay to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge. (51 working days)

I-90 - Geiger Road Interchange Reconstruction (MP 277.26)
Highway: I-90 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 277.26
Description: Improvement of I-90/Geiger Field Interchange/Exit 276. This work includes earthwork, roadway excavation and embankment, drainage, wetlands, CSBC, paving with HMA, illumination, ITS, erosion control plantings, cement curb and sidewalk, pavement markings, permanent signing, and traffic control.

Progress:  The eastbound ramp and westbound ramp roundabouts at the interchange are paved and open to traffic. Concrete, electrical, and sign installation work is ongoing on the Geiger/Flightline roundabout. Eastbound ramp extension is paved. Earthwork along the eastbound loop ramp is ongoing for the ramp extension. The north half of the Geiger roundabout is paved and open to traffic. Work on stage 3 of the Geiger roundabout began Monday, September 27. During this stage, the eastbound lanes of Geiger Blvd along with the north and southbound access to I-90 from Geiger Blvd is closed. I-90 traffic is being routed to Geiger Boulevard from the Medical Lake and US 2/Garden Springs interchanges. Work on the drainage ponds and preparation for planting is ongoing project-wide. Planting of trees in progress. Paving of the Geiger Boulevard eastbound lane and south section of the roundabout is ongoing. Permanent signage and striping will begin Monday, October 18.
Impacts: Eastbound Geiger Blvd. is closed between the Flying J and just west of the Washington State Patrol facility. Detours will be in place to direct eastbound Geiger Blvd. traffic around the construction site. The eastbound loop on-ramp is currently closed until the extension can be completed. Drivers can access eastbound I-90 via the roundabout.

I-90 - Lincoln Co. to BNSF RR Bridge - Roadside safety

I-90 - Liberty Park Pl to Sprague Ave - Paving

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC Spokane River to Columbia (MP 159.05 - 161.16)
Highway: US 395 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: NSC MP 159.05 - 161.16
Description: This project constructs two prestressed concrete girder bridges, two weathering steel plate girder bridges, including grading, excavation, embankment, concrete retaining walls, noise walls and barrier, PCCP, HMA, stormwater, and drainage, curbing, guardrail, fencing, concrete barrier, sidewalks, illumination, ITS, signing and pavement markings.

Progress: The contractor will be placing rebar for the abutments for the ramp bridge. Crews will also be pouring some concrete for the panels of walls 19 & 21 as well as a footing pour for another retaining wall. Crews will be backfilling ramp bridge footings.
Impacts: Euclid Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction as crews work on columns for the NSC overcrossing. Wellesley Avenue remains closed until late 2022.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC BNSF 2nd Railroad Realignment (MP 159.06 - 160.59)

Description: Construction of two railroad structures, BNSF shoofly, retaining walls, clearing, and grubbing, roadway excavation and embankment, HMA paving, installing curb and sidewalk plus utility work.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC Children of the Sun - Shared Use Path 
Highway: US 395 Region: Eastern County: Spokane 
Description: Construction of a shared-use path (Children of the Sun Trail) with the construction of three structures at Wellesley, BNSF and Mainline NSC, and Euclid. Includes several community connection points. Several project elements are driven by community outreach efforts. Other work includes illumination, landscaping, and other installations that carry community themes throughout.

Work Description: Continuing construction of bridge abutments at Euclid Ave and at Wellesley Avenue. The Contractor will continue setting abutment wall forms and tying rebar at the Euclid Structure.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC Sprague to Spokane River - Phase 1 (MP 158.55 - 158.84)
Highway: US 395 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: NSC MP 158.55 - 158.84
Description: This project constructs two prestressed concrete girder bridges.

Progress:  Contractor crews will continue placing rebar, pouring concrete and backfilling the pier foundations, columns, and crossbeams for piers 6-10.
Impacts: Work happening off local roadways. Access to SCC from Augusta Ave. will be closed beginning July 28, 2021, and will remain closed for the duration of the project. SCC south entrance will be closed on August 1, 2021, for several weeks.

SR 290 Spokane River E. Trent Bridge - Replace Bridge (MP 0.74 to 0.95)
Highway: SR 290 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 0.74 to MP 0.95
Description: This project will construct and remove work access bridge, remove and replace the existing bridge, full-depth roadway reconstruction, utility adjustments, and upgrades, illumination, infiltration pond grading, stormwater upgrades, cement concrete ramps, and traffic island construction.

Progress: Crews will be removing steel casing at pier 2, pier 3, and pier 4. Crews will also form abutment and curtain walls at pier 5.
Impacts: SR 290/Trent Ave. is closed between Columbus St. and N. Iron Ct. Detours can be found on our website.

SR 290 - City of Spokane Valley - SR 290/Barker Road BNSF Grade Separation

SR 290 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 11.40 to 12.89
Description: Improvement of Barker Road and SR 290 (Trent Avenue) Interchange. This work includes earthwork, roadway excavation and embankment, rock excavation, draining, paving with HMA, illumination, franchise utility relocation and installation, erosion control, seeding, cement concrete curb, sidewalk, pavement markings, permanent signing, traffic control, and one prestressed concrete bridge.

Progress: The Wellesley Avenue tie-in paving with the roundabout is complete. The roundabout is open to eastbound and westbound SR 290/Trent Avenue traffic. The last of the paving needed for the eastbound SR 290/Trent Avenue west end tie-in is anticipated to be completed on Saturday, October 16. Work on Barker retaining walls continues.
Impacts: Barker Road will remain closed at the SR 290/Trent Avenue intersection for the duration of this project. Wellesley Avenue is open, westbound traffic on Wellesley Avenue currently merges into a single lane of westbound SR 290/Trent Avenue, this configuration will remain through the first half of the Oct. 18, week. SR 290/Trent Avenue is open with one lane in each direction through the roundabout/work zone. The detour route is open from Barker Road for local business access.

Washington State Rural Rail Rehabilitation
Highway:
Near SR 26, US 2, US 195 Region: Eastern County: Lincoln & Whitman Location: Hooper Branch MP 41.00 – 58.00, CW Branch MP 10.00 – 39.00, P&L Branch MP 12.00 – 29.28
Description: Improves three branches of the PCC Railway System. The Hooper Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, ditching, surfacing turnouts, and crossing rehabilitation. The CW Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, rail and OTM replacement, rehabilitation, and replacement of turnouts and crossings. The P&L Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, replace crossing and surfacing turnouts, rehabilitating two timber structures, and replacing eight structures.

Progress:  Crews will be seeding and addressing other change orders.
