WSDOT Maintenance

  • The Rosamond Bridge in Spokane over I-90 is closed in both directions until further notice due to delamination of the bridge deck. Drivers will need to detour via Lindeke Street to the east.
  • The Lindeke Street Bridge in Spokane over I-90 is restricted to one lane for bridge deck repairs. The repairs are anticipated to last through July. A signal place at each end of the bridge will alternate traffic across the bridge until further notice.

2021 Eastern Region Chip Seal
Highway: Various Region: Eastern
Description: Construction of Bituminous Surface Treatment (BST), removing existing overlay from bridge decks, bridge deck repair, waterproof membrane, planing bituminous pavement, crack sealing, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) for pavement repair, pre-level. Crushed Surfacing Base Course (CSBC), Crushed Surfacing Top Course (CSTC), centerline rumble strips, fog seal, pavement markings, guardrail, guideposts, traffic control.

Work Schedule: All substantial contract work is complete on SR 26 and SR 274. Expect minor delays and slow speeds as crews perform pavement marking work.

Adams

I-90 - Tokio Rd. to Lincoln Co. Line - Paving

Description: This project improves 7.29 miles of I-90 by planing bituminous pavement, pavement repair, paving with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), guideposts, pavement markings, rumble strips, and traffic control.

Progress: Planing and paving operations will begin on Monday, July 12.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, July 26-30, 7 p.m. until 9 a.m.  The project is scheduled to be completed in 50 working days.

I-90 - Barker Road Interchange Improvement

I-90 - Harvard Road Interchange Improvement

Description: Widening the structure over I-90 to add a northbound lane and realigning the westbound I-90 on-ramps to create better merging.

Progress: Gravel borrow, and base course placement on North Liberty Lake Road.  Backwall, curtain wall, girder stop, and diaphragm work at piers 1-5. Deck forming. Begin deck placement.

I-90 - Geiger Road Interchange Reconstruction (MP 277.26)
Highway: I-90 Region: Eastern County: Spokane Location: MP 277.26
Description: Improvement of I-90/Geiger Field Interchange/Exit 276. This work includes earthwork, roadway excavation and embankment, drainage, wetlands, CSBC, paving with HMA, illumination, ITS, erosion control plantings, cement curb and sidewalk, pavement markings, permanent signing, and traffic control.

Progress: The eastbound and westbound ramp roundabouts are nearing completion and open. The westbound loop ramp is permanently closed.
Work Schedule: During the week of July 26, electrical work and construction of the shared-use path will be ongoing outside of the roadway. Work on the Geiger/Grove Roundabout is on hold until the Spokane International Airport property is acquired. This work is currently scheduled to begin on August 2.

I-90 - Medical Lake/SR 902 Interchange Improvements (MP 272.81)

Description: Reconstruction of the intersections at the eastbound and westbound ramp terminals. This will replace the current intersections with roundabouts. Replacement and relocation of the intersection of SR 902 and Geiger Blvd. with a roundabout. Construction of a new bridge structure parallel to the existing overpass at I-90.

I-90 - Lincoln Co. to BNSF RR Bridge - Roadside safety

Description: Grading and excavation in the median. Rock Removal and installation of concrete barrier and guardrail.

Traffic Control:  No impacts while under suspension. The only remaining work is minor guardrail change order and seeding.

Description: This project rehabilitates the weigh station scale pits.

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC Spokane River to Columbia (MP 159.05 - 161.16)

Description: This project constructs two prestressed concrete girder bridges, two weathering steel plate girder bridges, including grading, excavation, embankment, concrete retaining walls, noise walls and barrier, PCCP, HMA, stormwater, and drainage, curbing, guardrail, fencing, concrete barrier, sidewalks, illumination, ITS, signing and pavement markings.

Progress: Excavation and compacting of the subgrade, EW-N & N-EW Ramp bridge access. At retaining Wall 19, crews will be placing rebar for footing and wall, pour. Wellesley slopes and plug removal.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wellesley Avenue remains closed until 2022. This project will complete the Wellesley Avenue interchange. (During extreme heat, start time is 5 a.m.)

North Spokane Corridor-US 395/NSC BNSF 2nd Railroad Realignment (MP 159.06 - 160.59)

Description: Construction of two railroad structures, BNSF shoofly, retaining walls, clearing, and grubbing, roadway excavation and embankment, HMA paving, installing curb and sidewalk plus utility work.

Work Description: Mainline slopes, ditches, track walking. ESL line – slopes, ditches, track walking. Fencing. Punchlist items remain.

Description: This project constructs two prestressed concrete girder bridges.

Progress: Survey and mobilization to site. Piers 9 and 10 will begin excavation, cages and forming. The first concrete pour for pier 10 happened on July 22.
Work Schedule: No traffic impacts expected. Work happening in the Spokane Community College parking lot. Augusta Avenue between Greene and Ralph Street on SCC's campus will be closed.

SR 290 Spokane River E. Trent Bridge - Replace Bridge (MP 0.74 to 0.95)

Description: This project will construct and remove work access bridge, remove and replace the existing bridge, full-depth roadway reconstruction, utility adjustments, and upgrades, illumination, infiltration pond grading, stormwater upgrades, cement concrete ramps, and traffic island construction.

Progress: Bridge demo continues. Pier 3 rebar shafts and pour, while work shifts to pier 4 rebar shafts.

SR 290 - City of Spokane Valley - SR 290/Barker Road BNSF Grade Separation

Description: Improvement of Barker Road and SR 290 (Trent Avenue) Interchange. This work includes earthwork, roadway excavation and embankment, rock excavation, draining, paving with HMA, illumination, franchise utility relocation and installation, erosion control, seeding, cement concrete curb, sidewalk, pavement markings, permanent signing, traffic control, and one prestressed concrete bridge.

Progress: Barker Road will remain closed at the Trent intersection for the duration of this project. Wellesley Avenue is closed in both directions between Trent and Campbell Road. Trent is one lane in each direction through the work zone.  Construction Signage is in place. The Contractor is continuing the roadway embankment on the north side of Trent. This will be the area of the new roundabout. Utility locations throughout the project will continue as needed. The detour road is open from Barker for local business access. The concrete for the Wall 2 foundation has been placed.
Work Schedule: During the week of July 26, the contractor is working to build roadway grade on the north side of Trent. Including the installation of drainage structures, luminaire bases, and the utility trench. Paving will take place in early August. Work is continuing at Wall 2, along Barker Road south of the tracks and the excavation for Wall 1 has begun. The detour road south of Trent is open to access the businesses. The detour road has been built to access several businesses north of Garland Ave. while Barker is closed for construction. The Contractor placed the concrete for Pier 1 and Pier 2 footings.

Whitman

Washington State Rural Rail Rehabilitation
Highway:
Near SR 26, US 2, US 195 Region: Eastern County: Lincoln & Whitman Location: Hooper Branch MP 41.00 – 58.00, CW Branch MP 10.00 – 39.00, P&L Branch MP 12.00 – 29.28
Description: Improves three branches of the PCC Railway System. The Hooper Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, ditching, surfacing turnouts, and crossing rehabilitation. The CW Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, rail and OTM replacement, rehabilitation, and replacement of turnouts and crossings. The P&L Branch consists of replacing ties, placing ballast, surfacing, replace crossing and surfacing turnouts, rehabilitating of two timber structures, and replacing eight structures.

Progress: CW branch – various crossings. P&L branch – Br 27.7: install tie and tie spacers, install rail. Br 24.9: post-tensioning, install pile caps/stringers/back wall, backfill back wall.

SR 193 - Port of Whitman - Utility Work

Description: The Port of Whitman’s contractor will be performing buried utility work along SR 193 between mileposts 0.52 and 0.60, just west of the north end of the Red Wolf Bridge.

Progress: No significant impacts this week.
