Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) Demonstration Project: Deploying Practical Solutions Using Lean Techniques and Knowledge Management

This report summarizes work done through the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) grant award for Deploying Practical Solutions Using Lean Techniques and Knowledge Management. This project was funded through the Federal Highway Administration’s Accelerating Innovation Deployment demonstration program. Activities included: developing a high level business process map and resource model; exploring opportunities to develop an enterprise architecture; assessing the current state and opportunities to improve alignment of roles, data and information with business needs; assessing opportunities to strengthen WSDOT’s learning culture; evaluating and testing the use of vocabulary management to support search, navigation, and integration; and, testing the development of a knowledge book using the Method to Analyze and Structure Knowledge.  The summary includes recommendations for each activity and the current status and next steps.
