Chinook and Cayuse passes to close for the season on Thursday, Nov. 21

MOUNT RAINIER – The gates to Chinook and Cayuse passes through Mount Rainier National Park are about to swing shut for the season. Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews, in coordination with Mount Rainier National Park, will close State Route 410/Chinook Pass and State Route 123/Cayuse Pass for the winter at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21.

Washington State Ferries to honor veterans Monday with moment of silence

SEATTLE – At 11:11 a.m. on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Washington State Ferries will observe two minutes of silence to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Eastbound SR 520 in Seattle closed Nov. 9-10 weekend to reduce highway to two lanes

Crews will close eastbound State Route 520 east of Montlake Boulevard this weekend to reduce the eastbound portion of the highway from three lanes to two between the Montlake and the floating bridge. The weekend closure is the second part of a two-step process (pdf 551 kb) to reduce and shift lanes so crews can create a new work zone in the Montlake area to build new eastbound lanes from Montlake Boulevard to the floating bridge.

All lanes of the State Route 99 Aurora bridge are scheduled to reopen in time for the Wednesday morning commute, as workers completed an emergency repair to a damaged support beam under the southbound lanes.

Repairs to the SR 99 Aurora bridge to begin Oct. 31

Washington State Department of Transportation crews have developed a plan to repair a damaged support beam connection below the State Route 99 Aurora bridge. The bridge will be reduced to two lanes in each direction for approximately 10 days of work, beginning Thursday night, Oct. 31.
