US 395 - North Spokane Corridor - BNSF 2nd Railroad Realignment

Project news

The realigned tracks are now open and work is nearly complete. Wellesley Avenue between Freya and Market Street remains closed at this time. The next project from Columbia to the Spokane River will complete the Wellesley interchange and the next drivable section from where it ends just south of Francis to Wellesley Aveue.

Needs & benefits

This project will realign the BNSF railroad tracks in north Spokane for the future US 395 highway. This project includes constructing two railroad structures, retaining walls, roadway excavation and embankment, paving with hot mix asphalt, placing curbing and sidewalk.


Construction began on September 30, 2019. Currently, crews have punchlist items remaining on the project and are nearly complete.
