SR 522 - Paradise Lake Rd to Snohomish River Br - Interchange & Widening - Preliminary preferred alternative

The preferred alternative for this SR 522 project would remove some roadway.

Nearly 150 people attended an open house on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at Hidden River Middle School on Paradise Lake Road. During the open house, community members viewed the preliminary preferred alternative selected by WSDOT.

Key characteristics include:

  • Removal of the existing signal at SR 522 and Paradise Lake Road.
  • Elevating SR 522 near SR 524/Maltby Road.
  • New on- and off-ramps.
  • New roundabouts at the end of the new ramps.
  • Removing a portion of the existing Paradise Lake Road.
  • Creating a new roadway on the east side of SR 522 to provide access to the highway and link directly underneath to SR 524/Maltby Road.

Benefits of the preliminary preferred alternative include:

  • Reduces traffic congestion by removing the traffic signal and separating SR 522 from local traffic.
  • Improves east-west connectivity.
  • Improves local fish passages.
