On Thursday, Jan. 23, a landslide closed both directions of State Route 4, about 9-miles west of Cathlamet, between milepost 19 near Shannon Road and milepost 26 near Mullen Road. The slide is about 300 feet in length and 175 feet high, about the size of a football field, and is approximately 50,000 cubic yards of mud, trees and rocks.
On Monday, Jan. 27, WSDOT awarded an emergency repair contract to Nutter Corporation and cleanup work began on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Crews are working with extreme caution and closely monitoring the hillside.
