I-90 - Mullan Road Crossing - Bridge Deck Repair

Project news

This project was awarded to N.A. Degerstrom. This project will rehabilitate the Mullan Road Overcrossing of I-90 in Spokane Valley by hydro-milling 1.5 inches of bridge deck and placing a 2 inch modified concrete surface to allow it to be used for years to come.

This bridge carries three northbound lanes of traffic over I-90 at the Mullan/Argonne couplet. When work beings, Mullan Road will be restricted one lane northbound from roughly Mission Avenue to the westbound I-90 off-ramp intersection with Mullan Road. The City of Spokane Valley is also doing work on Mullan north near Montgomery.

In addition to the lane restrictions, the eastbound I-90 off-ramp will be closed for the duration of the project. Drivers needing to use the eastbound I-90 off-ramp at Argonne/Mullan Road will follow a signed detour from the Broadway interchange to the west for access to Mullan Road.

Those who bike walk and roll will be route over the Argonne Road crossing just to the west.

Needs & benefits

The Mullan Road Overcrossing of I-90 in Spokane Valley was constructed in 1975. Currently, drivers are using the same concrete and patchwork since the bridge was constructed. By removing the existing surface and adding new concrete, it will preserve the structure of the bridge deck for years to come.

The project is scheduled for 51 working days beginning in the spring of 2022.
