Project news

Several closures to impact the Geiger/Grove interchange:

Current closures

  • The westbound I-90 on-ramp from Grove Rd. is currently closed but will open to traffic on Friday, May 28.
  • Travel on Grove Rd. both directions are currently closed. Southbound travel to the eastbound I-90 loop on-ramp will reopen on Friday, May 28.

Future closures

  • Friday, May 21 - westbound I-90 off-ramp to close to traffic until late Wednesday, May 26.
  • Friday, May 21 - the on-ramp and off-ramp to eastbound I-90 will close to traffic as crews begin work on the southern roundabout at the Grove Rd. and eastbound I-90 interchange. The closure is expected to remain in place until the Fourth of July weekend.

Extensive detours will impact the area to avoid construction.

Construction of three roundabouts will be built in phases. The first roundabout will be constructed at the westbound I-90 on and off-ramps with Grove Road, followed by the eastbound I-90 on and off-ramps and the third roundabout will be constructed at the Geiger/Grove intersection. Construction is funded in the "Connecting Washington" package.

Needs & benefits

This area is seeing substantial growth in commercial and industrial development, as well as residential housing.  The reconfigured interchange at Geiger Blvd. will provide for more efficient vehicle movement. Improvements include interchange ramp terminal intersection roundabouts.
