I-90 - Barker to Harvard

Project news

Several projects funded through Connecting Washington and partner funds will address the improvement needs on Interstate 90 at the Barker Road interchange, the Harvard Road interchange, and local network connections. Included in the projects are the widening of Harvard Road bridge over I-90 to three lanes, improving the westbound on-ramps to I-90 from Harvard Road, converting the traffic signals at both the westbound and eastbound ramps to Interstate 90 at Barker Road to roundabouts, and constructing a new Kramer Parkway undercrossing connection over I-90 from Mission Avenue on the north, to Country Vista Drive to the south.

Needs & benefits

Improvements at the Harvard Road bridge and ramps will resolve Liberty Lake's congestion concerns. Henry Road's new connection will address capacity issues in Liberty Lake and provide additional network alternatives and resiliency. Barker Road roundabouts will increase the level of service at both the east and westbound ramp terminals allow more traffic to move through the intersections.

  • Barker Road interchange roundabouts - Construction was completed in September 2020.
  • Harvard Road bridge widening and Harvard ramps - The new lane on the Harvard Road bridge opened in September 2021.
