WSDOT conducted a study of the Fort Lewis Weigh Station located on northbound Interstate 5 near DuPont in Pierce County. This segment of I-5 experiences high volumes from both freight and commuter traffic. Freight traffic experiences recurring congestion, delays and unreliable travel times. In collaboration with federal, state, local and tribal partners, WSDOT's goal is to develop short, mid- and long-term recommendations for operation and infrastructure improvements to this weigh and inspection station.
