Proposed improvements to SR 104/SR 19 included in Aug. 29 open house

SHINE – Community members and local businesses are invited to learn about the preferred final design for a project to improve safety at State Route 104 and Shine/Paradise Bay Roads in Jefferson County.

On Thursday, Aug. 29, the Washington State Department of Transportation will host an open house to present a roundabout design for the intersection and discuss the project benefits. The open house will also include WSDOT’s plans to improve safety at SR 104 and Beaver Valley Road (SR 19) further west. Representatives from Jefferson County and the Washington State Patrol will be featured panel guests during the presentation along with WSDOT staff.

The selection was chosen after careful evaluation of several options, and feedback from highway users, including freight haulers regarding the desired project benefits that include safety and equitable access. Both projects are anticipated to begin construction sometime between 2021-2023.

“The response to our proposal has been strong and we are eager to continue working together to bring this project to construction and improve safety for both SR 104 and Shine Road/Paradise Bay travelers,” said WSDOT Regional Administrator John Wynands.
