Ensuring that hazardous materials (HazMat) and solid waste encountered or generated by our transportation projects are handled in a manner that is cost effective, environmentally responsible, and protective of agency cleanup liability is an important aspect of our work. Successful management of HazMat stems from early planning and coordination between Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) staff, contractors and regulators.
We provide online training for WSDOT staff who review Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plans. WSDOT staff can access the course through LMS by searching for the course title, “WSDOT ENV: Spill Plan Reviewer Training (OLT).”
