SUBJECT:       LRFD Guide Specifications for Pedestrian Bridges


This design memorandum supersedes design memorandum issued on July 17, 2009. This design memorandum establishes criteria for design of pedestrian bridges.

Pedestrian bridges shall be designed in accordance with the requirements of the AASHTO LRFD Guide Specifications for the Design of Pedestrian Bridges, dated December 2009.


Background:

Design memorandum issued on July 17, 2009 was based on a draft document approved at the AASHTO annual meeting July 2009. The December 2009 “AASHTO LRFD Guide Specifications for the Design of Pedestrian Bridges” is the published document of the July 2009 draft.
