I-5 System Partnership

Planning study news

WSDOT, jointly with the city of Seattle, applied for a U.S. Department of Transportation Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant in 2019 to advance the work of the I-5 System Partnership. The work was not selected for funding, but WSDOT continues to review funding opportunities to advance the work called for by the I-5 System Partnership.

Purpose

The I-5 System Partnership is a stakeholder group made up of representatives from transportation agencies, community organizations, the business community and jurisdictions throughout the 107-mile study area from Tumwater to Arlington. The group is dedicated to working collaboratively to review the pressing challenges of the I-5 system and establish goals and strategies for the future of the system.

The I-5 System Partnership is focused on assessing and planning for improvements on the I-5 corridor between Tumwater and Arlington.
