SR 512 Congestion Management at SR 7

Expect overnight ramp work on the SR 7 on-ramp to eastbound SR 512. See work hours below under "What to expect".

Project overview

This project supports ongoing traffic management strategies along the State Route 512 corridor by adding a new Wavetronix data sensor between I-5 and Steele Street in Lakewood. The SR 7 on-ramp to eastbound SR 512 in Parkland will also be extended, widened and improved with new lighting.

People will see nighttime and weekend closures of the SR 7 on-ramp to eastbound SR 512.

The purpose of the new Waventronix data sensor is to collect more accurate traffic volume information near the SR 512/I-5 interchange. The information helps with work zone planning, traffic analysis, and future corridor management.

The sensor uses radar to collect data and does not have a camera.

Ramp improvements include adding new lighting and traffic loops. Traffic loops are used to detect congestion along state highways. The loops will connect to the ramp meters, which help reduce merging issues.
