Project overview
The SR 410 White River Bridge between Buckley and Enumclaw reopened Friday, Oct. 17, after contractor crews completed repairs. On Aug. 18, 2025, an over-height vehicle struck several of the support beams on the bridge, causing serious damage that required us to close the bridge. After a complete inspection by our bridge engineers, they determined that several of the components are compromised and needed to be repaired.
What to expect
Work on this project is complete; the bridge reopened Friday, Oct. 17.
The SR 410 White River Bridge, located between Buckley and Enumclaw, is a key link between south King and north Pierce counties.
The White River Bridge is a steel truss bridge built in 1949. It carries about 22,000 vehicles each day.
WSDOT bridges are inspected on a two-year cycle. The last inspection of this bridge took place in April 2025, and the bridge was determined to be in fair condition.
This bridge has had to close in the past due to damage from an over-height vehicle. During a scheduled inspection in April 2015, our bridge inspectors discovered severe damage to one of the overhead beams. The bridge was closed for about a week while temporary repairs were made. The bridge closed for another week in April 2016 to permanently repair the beam.
