SR 164 - Pussyfoot Creek - Fish Passage

Project overview

This project built a bridge for SR 164 over Pussyfoot Creek on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation east of Auburn. This opens an additional 9.3 miles of habitat for salmon and other fish. The old culvert had conditions that make it difficult or impossible for fish to travel upstream.

What to expect

During construction, from July 12, 2021 to Oct. 14, 2021, SR 164 was closed to through traffic between Southeast 400th Street and 212th Avenue Southeast. Single lane closures will continue as crews complete guard rail placement and other work on the project.

Replacing the old culvert under SR 164 with a bridge opens up an additional 9.3 miles of habitat for salmon and other fish that live in Pussyfoot Creek.
