Project overview
This project adds capacity for both directions of I-90 between Eastgate and West Lake Sammamish Parkway interchanges by restriping the roadway and adding an auxiliary lane. Crews also built sound walls in strategic locations to minimize traffic noise.
What to expect
The construction of the auxiliary lane and soundwalls is complete.
Auxiliary lanes were added in both directions of I-90 between Eastgate and West Lake Sammamish Parkway, along with sounds walls at specific locations to reduce traffic noise.
This section of I-90 carries more than 130,000 vehicles a day, often creating heavy traffic. Adding auxiliary lanes between Eastgate and West Lake Sammamish Parkway in each direction on what used to be shoulder allows drivers more time to safely enter or exit the highway. To build these, we reinforced catch basins, drainage pipes and utility lids to withstand the weight of everyday traffic.
