$12 million federal grant to improve truck parking in western United States announced
OLYMPIA - The states of Washington, Oregon and California receive $12 million federal grant to provide truck drivers with real-time truck parking availability information.
Weekend-long closures coming to southbound SR 529, starting Jan. 19
Last year during a routine inspection of the 97-year-old southbound State Route 529 Steamboat Slough Bridge just south of Marysville, our crews found about a dozen worn gusset plates, which connect steel beams. We'll replace these worn plates in a few weekend-long closures.

State ferries welcome 1.3 million more riders in 2023
SEATTLE – Over 1.3 million more riders boarded Washington State Ferries in 2023. The 7.4% spike from 2022 pushed annual ridership to nearly 18.7 million last year.

Westbound chain-up area on SR 18 near Tiger Mountain to move farther east, closer to I-90
SNOQUALMIE – Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will temporarily move the chain-up area on westbound State Route 18 to just east of the Raging River bridge in Issaquah.

SPOKANE – After several years of community outreach and placemaking effort, the next section of the Children of the Sun Trail from Columbia Avenue in the Hillyard neighborhood south to Cleveland Avenue in the Minnehaha Neighborhood is set to open to those who bike, walk or roll on Saturday, Dec. 23.
