Overview
WSDOT contractor crews resurfaced three segments of US 2 totaling almost 17 miles of roadway between Gold Bar and Skykomish. The project was a combination of chip sealing and repaving. Two segments totaling more than eight miles was chip sealed, while the other eight-mile segment received a new layer of asphalt.
Improves safety
Removing cracks, potholes and wheel ruts reduces the chance for water to pool on the roadway, creating a safer and smoother ride for drivers.
Economic incentive
The new pavement will reduce the need for maintenance and emergency road repairs, saving money long-term.
Funding
Pre-Existing Funds (PEF): $3,280,000
Connecting Washington (CWA): $1,125,000
Total: $4,404,000
