Overview
Contractor crews with Granite Construction repaired three miles of asphalt on SR 92 from 147th Avenue Northeast to Quarry Road. They ground down the worn asphalt, removed the debris and filled the area with new asphalt in a process called “mill and fill.” They also sealed cracks, replaced signals and made some Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades at the northeast and southeast corners of the intersection with 84th Street NE. This project was combined with a nearby roundabout installation on SR 9 at 108th Street Northeast.
The asphalt on this two-lane stretch of highway hadn’t been repaired since 2006. 16,300 vehicles travel this portion of roadway every day. It was showing signs of wear and tear such as cracks, ruts and potholes. At the intersection of 84th Street Northeast, curb ramps were installed to provide a level transition between the sidewalk and the street. This will make crossing easier for cyclists, strollers and people who use walkers or wheelchairs. In addition, the pushbuttons for the crossing signal were modified.
The cost of this project was $2.307 million.
February 2018: Project awarded.
Spring 2018: Construction began.
October 2020: Project completed.
