In summer 2017, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation resurfaced the eastbound bridge deck of the SR 432 Cowlitz River Bridge, also known by its official name; the Harry E. Morgan Bridge, located in Cowlitz County.
Over time, a combination of heavy traffic and weather conditions were deteriorating the bridge deck surface. Cracks and rutting in the pavement were visible and in need of repair. Resurfacing work preserved the integrity and extended the life of the highway, as we well as provided a cost-effective fix before the underlying road and bridge deck were permanently damaged.
The End Result
This resurfacing project rehabilitated the existing pavement and preserved this important transportation infrastructure that services approximately 35,000 vehicles a day.
