Construction on the East Trent Bridge began Monday, March 9, 2020. The full closure for demolition and reconstruction of the East Trent Bridge began on June 1, 2020.
Several detours will go into place during construction.
The contract was awarded to Garco Construction, Inc. on January 31, 2019.
This bridge crosses the Spokane River just east of Hamilton Street in east Spokane. This structure has been in service since 1910 and is well beyond its useful life. The roadway surface, bridge rail, and piers require continuing extensive maintenance and repairs. As part of this project, the existing bridge will be demolished and a new bridge will take its place. The new structure will meet all current design and safety standards. Also, Trent will be re-surfaced from Hamilton to the new Martin Luther King Way roundabout at Perry Street.
The City of Spokane has an adjacent project: Martin Luther King Way/Riverside Drive
Construction began in March 2020 and is expected to continue through late 2023.
