Project news

February 2019

  • WSDOT is working on a preferred solution to construct a new single bridge. This will replace the current two structures.

Winter 2017

  • The original scope of the project was to retrofit existing structures. The project was put out for bid.
  • Submitted bids exceeded the project funding limits and were rejected. The project is postponed.

The original project entailed work on the SR 26 bridge and US 195 bridge over the North Fork of the Palouse River in north Colfax. However, due to bids being rejected, the project was postponed.

Why is WSDOT repairing these bridges?
Both structures were originally constructed in the mid 1930's and are in need of significant repairs.

Needs & benefits

Two aged structures are being replaced with one new one. This will greatly reduce maintenance efforts and costs.

At this time bridge replacement is not programmed for construction.
