SR 104 - Hood Canal Bridge - Special Repair - Complete December 2018

WSDOT replaced SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge internal mechanics responsible for opening and closing drawspan. Crews specifically replaced lower and upper gear boxes that were worn and at the end of their lifespan. Workers also replaced aging hydraulic hoses and adjusted and aligned guide rollers responsible for operating the drawspan for marine traffic.

How you benefit

New gear boxes and other internal mechanical parts allow WSDOT to maintain the functionality of the drawspan and minimize unscheduled impacts to drivers and marine traffic. With no convenient alternate routes between Kitsap and Jefferson counties, repairing the bridge preserves an important lifeline for residents and businesses.

Pre-Existing Funds (PEF): $5,189,000
