Inside each pontoon on the Interstate 90 floating bridges, there is an anchor cable saddle that guides the cable and holds it in place. The other end of the cable connects with anchors on the bed of Lake Washington. This photo was taken during a previous anchor cable replacement project.
The old and frayed anchor cables are being replaced because they are rusted and corroded. Many of the individual strands of steel that make up some of the cable are also broken. This photo was taken during a previous anchor cable replacement project.
