I-5 - Martin Way Bridges - Special Repair

Project news

Contractor crews will close lanes in both directions of I-5. The overnight work will regularly reduce northbound and southbound I-5 to one lane in each direction near Martin Way. Drivers can expect lane closures each night Monday through Saturday and occasional Sunday work.

Needs & Benefits

Expansion joints create a smoother surface for drivers by allowing bridges to expand and contract with changing weather. The existing joints on I-5 over Martin Way are aging and worn. WSDOT maintenance crews have repaired these joints repeatedly over the years, but they have reached a point that requires replacement.
