MONROE – People who travel on eastbound SR 522 Snohomish River Bridge at night should plan for a potentially long detour this weekend.

Washington Department of Transportation contractor crews will finish repaving the bridge. The work will require four consecutive nighttime closures of the eastbound bridge beginning Friday, July 27. People who use the road late at night need to prepare for a lengthy detour that could be up to 24 miles during the closure.

Full closure hours

  • Friday, July 27: 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Saturday, July 28: 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Sunday, July 29: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Monday, July 30: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The eastbound Snohomish River Bridge will be open to a single lane of traffic during the day between the overnight closures. Slower travel times are expected during daylight hours.

The westbound bridge is not affected by this work.

This is the final of the two weekend closures of the eastbound Snohomish River Bridge. All of this work is part of a larger project that will resurface four miles of SR 522 between Maltby and Monroe.
