March 14 open house planned at Coupeville High School

COUPEVILLE – The Spice Girls were on the radio and Will Smith was still the Fresh Prince of Bel Air the last time State Route 20 and State Route 525 were paved on Whidbey Island. That changes this summer with a 30-mile paving project, that stretches from Clinton past Coupeville.

The Washington State Department of Transportation will host an open house on Tuesday, March 14, to share details about the upcoming road work and other projects in Island County. WSDOT engineers will answer questions and listen to comments and suggestions.

"It has been more than 20 years since we last repaved this stretch of road on Island County," said WSDOT Assistant Project Engineer Ron Burke. "And we're looking forward to meeting with the community to talk more about this work that will not only make the road safer, but preserve it for years to come."
