Refresh Rate:

Colman Dock, the Seattle ferry terminal, is located on the Seattle Waterfront at Pier 52. This is where you access Washington State Ferries to Bainbridge Island and Bremerton. The Colman Dock Project completed major new elements in summer 2023, including the entry building along Alaskan Way and the elevated pedestrian connector for ticketing and terminal building access. Additional and final improvements will be completed in 2024—including removal of the temporary walkway. Please be alert to final construction activities while entering and exiting Colman Dock.

Temporary schedule for two weeks: All trips between the Seattle terminal, Bainbridge Island, and Bremerton will follow a temporary sailing schedule beginning on Saturday, Jan. 4 through Jan. 20, 2020. Find out more about the temporary sailing schedule and ways to plan ahead.

Directions and Transportation Connections

  • Northbound: From I-5 N, take exit 182 for SR 525 N (Mukilteo Speedway) and follow for 18 miles.

    Southbound: From I-5 S, take exit 189 for SR 526 and follow for 4.5 miles. Turn right onto 84th St SW for .4 miles. Turn right onto SR 525 N (Mukilteo Speedway) for 2 miles.

    Vehicles coming from the north and south will be travelling north on SR 525. Proceed in the lane marked for ferry traffic on the right.

    Accessing the Terminal: Vehicles travel north on SR 525 in the lane marked for ferry traffic and turn right at the intersection with First Street. Approaching the entrance to the holidng lanes, the two lanes are marked for general ferry traffic lane (right lane) and priority ferry traffic and through lane (left lane). Each lane has its own green light, and you may only proceed into the holding lanes when the light turns green for your lane.

Tourist Information

Parking
Parking There is no parking available at the Mukilteo ferry terminal. There are a few short-term spots available for people picking up or dropping off passengers. Paid parking, managed by the City of Mukilteo, is available near the terminal and is limited to 4 hours. For more information, see the City of Mukilteo website at: https://mukilteowa.gov/ Suggestions for parking for more than 4 hours are the Park and Ride lots in Everett or Lynnwood and using transit to get to the Ferry.

Airport
From SeaTac Airport to the Mukilteo Terminal follow road signs to the freeway. Drive NORTH to enter eastbound on 518. You will need to get on I-5 North. Mukilteo is approximately an hour’s drive from SeaTac Airport. The exit number from I-5 is exit 189.

Motorcycles
While motorcycles are not, by Washington Administrative Code (WAC 468-300-700), a preferential loading category of users, they are often loaded prior to automobiles for operational and staging purposes. Arrival at the dock after vehicle load has commenced requires motorcycles to wait until all cars have been loaded for the next motorcycle loading opportunity. Motorcycles should proceed, while on the dock, at no more than 10 mph. Use caution when car decks are wet. The following information details specific staging for this terminal:

Motorcycle Fare Purchase/Redemption
Purchase tickets at auto tollbooths, advance tickets may be purchased at the kiosk inside the terminal waiting room or online. Advanced fare purchase is encouraged on this route.

Motorcycle Entry/Staging
Procedures have changed at the Mukilteo terminal. All motorcycles must stop at the auto tollbooth via ferry line from Mukilteo Speedway (SR 525). Ticket sellers will direct cyclists to designated staging lane.

Motorcycle Loading
Loading order: bicycles, motorcycles, vehicles, late arriving motorcycles as space permits.

Motorcycle Special Communication
Advanced fare purchase is encouraged on this route.

Trucks
Current Oversize Restriction Notice:
Trucks over 13 ft. in width are not permitted to travel on the route until further notice.

WSF requires trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 80,000 lbs and/or over 8’6” wide to have “travel approval” before crossing any of our routes. Vessels on this route have a limited height clearance and trucks may be loaded out of sequence.

Trucks that have a gross vehicle weight of over 80,000 lbs but are hauling less than 80,000 lbs will need to provide a weight slip.

Bikes
Bypass the line of vehicle traffic, purchase tickets at a tollbooth, then use the green bike lane to the staging area provided near the terminal’s maintenance building.

Bicyclists should arrive 20 minutes prior to departure time to be loaded at the beginning of loading process. If a bicyclist arrives after vehicle loading has begun, they will be loaded at the end of the load. Riders should walk their bikes on and off the ferry to avoid injuring passengers. The terminal has no racks.

Train
Mukilteo Commuter Trains
Sounder offers commuter rail service from Mukilteo to Seattle with stops in Edmonds. In Mukilteo, Sounder rail is located at 920 First Street, SW of the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal, 800 feet walking distance from terminal. For more information about this service check Sounder Train.

HOV
Carpool/Vanpools must be ticketed and in line 10 minutes before scheduled sailing time to receive preferential loading. If you are late, you will be loaded on a space available basis at the end of the loading.

If no normal vehicle movement is occurring in the general ferry access lane, vanpools, carpools, and medical priority vehicles may now drive down the local access lane to access any available toll booth by merging into ferry line traffic just prior to the tollbooths. ADA Information

  • Walk-On and Roll-on Passengers:
    - Boarding the ferry: All walk-on and roll-on passengers go through the passenger building second floor, accessible by two sets of stairs and three elevators, and proceed through the turnstiles to the north balcony where they connect to the overhead walkway to the ferry.
    - Leaving the ferry: Walk-on and roll-on passengers can exit from both ends of the building. The east end lets out at the transit center where buses pick up and drop off; the west end leads to the sidewalk toward downtown Mukilteo and Lighthouse Park.

    ADA pick-up drop-off location and parking spots:
    - There are two ADA-accessible parking spots inside the transit area/WSF staff parking lot at the east end of the terminal. To get to them, drive east on First Street past the entrance to the holding lanes. Do not turn into the holding lanes. The two marked ADA parking spots are inside the parking lot, nearest the terminal entry gate and east elevators.

Fare Discounts

We offer seniors (65+), persons with disabilities and passengers with a Medicare card, or other eligibility verification, travel at half the regular passenger fare rate. We offer special rates for youth ages 6 to 18. Children ages 5 and under travel free.

Multi-ride cards are good for 90 days from the date of purchase and are non-refundable.

Lost and Found

Lost and found items on this route are turned in to the Mukilteo ferry terminal. Due to storage limitations, found items are held for 10 days from the date they were found. Passenger Ticket Booth Hours

  • Monday through Friday: 4:45 a.m.- 12:15 a.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 5:45 a.m. to 12:15 a.m.
  • When the passenger ticket booth is closed, passengers must purchase fares at the auto toll booth.

    Ticket seller window is open these hours: Seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    When the ticket window is closed, passengers can buy tickets from two kiosks on the second floor of the passenger building. Public restrooms are located at the head of the holding lanes (east end) in the maintenance building and on the second floor of the passenger building at its west end.
