The Regional Mobility Grant Program supports local efforts to improve transit mobility and reduce congestion on our most heavily traveled roadways.
The program has provided $60 million to support local projects since 2006. Examples include:
• New transit services that connect regional population centers
• New park and ride lots and lot expansions
• New buses
• Rush hour transit service on our most congested roadways

Project updates
Mountlake Terrace Freeway Station – Sound Transit
Construction is underway on this $40.9 million project, which will add a freeway transit station in the median of I-5 and a pedestrian overpass to the newly completed Mountlake Terrace Park and Ride. Sound Transit issued a notice to proceed to their contractor and held a groundbreaking ceremony in May. When the project is completed in summer 2011, it will reduce transit travel times and improve reliability.
North I-405 Transit Access Project Brickyard Park and Ride Expansion – King County Metro
This project will expand the popular park and ride lot by more than 100 stalls and improve access to the lot. King County Metro issued a notice to proceed to their contractor in June and construction is slated for completion by early 2010.
Swift Bus Rapid Transit Northern Terminal at Everett Station – Everett Transit
In June, Everett opened the project for competitive bids from contractors. Construction is underway and the project is on track to open for the November, 2009 Swift service start.
SR 522 HOV Enhancements Phase II – City of Kenmore
Construction continues on this project, which widens SR 522 and adds business access and transit lanes and improves pedestrian access and signals. The project is on track to be operationally complete in fall 2009.
27 projects get green light from Legislature and Governor
The 2009-2011 transportation budget includes $24,566,000 for 13 Regional Mobility Grant projects that are already underway and $33,429,000 for 14 new Regional Mobility Grant projects.
