On the morning of September 9, 1948, the Washington State Ferry, Martha S. made herĀ first crossing of the Columbia River between Lincoln County and Ferry County. The vessel was in continuous service until midnight, July 7, 2013, just two months short of 65 years.

In those years, the Marth S. made more than 1.5 million crossings.
