Project Description
This project is phase six of eight phases that improve US 12 from SR 124 (Burbank) to Walla Walla. This approximately eight mile project will reconstruct US 12 from McDonald Road to Walla Walla as a four lane divided highway, with improved capacity and enhanced safety.

Contractor/Consultant
David Evans and Associates prepared the Resource Reports.  Landau and Associates have studied the springs near Pine Street. 

Recent Progress
Design of earthwork, drainage, landscaping, and  miscellaneous items is ongoing. The contract plans are 90% complete. 

We have acquired 22 of 37 parcels, 8 are in negotiations, and 2 were submitted for condemnation. Two of the four residential relocations are complete. 

Design Construction Impacts
The project is on schedule, on budget, and on scope as per the 2007-09 Transportation Budget approved by the Legislature and sign by the Governor.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Off site and out of kind mitigation for wetland impacts was agreed to by the environmental resource agencies acting through the Walla Walla County Watershed Planning Council.

Impacts to Traffic
A majority of the project work will take place away from existing roadways. WSDOT will construct a temporary detour to keep traffic moving and increase safety at the Pine Street Intersection.

Right of Way Certification Oct 06 Due to additional work associated with Pine Street Interchange and property acquisition in the Frenchtown Monument area, Certification will occur by October 2007.
Contract Advertisement Nov 06

Due to additional work associated with Pine Street Interchange and property acquisition in the Frenchtown Monument area, WSDOT proposes to advertise in Fall 2007.
