The project will construct a pedestrian tunnel underneath SR 14 to create a pedestrian/bicycle connection between the newly reconstructed downtown Washougal city core and the Columbia River waterfront.
Why are we Building This Project?
The SR 14 Pedestrian Tunnel is a key part of the Downtown Washougal Revitilization Plan, which strives to create a revitilized, pedestrian friendly city atmosphere through sustainable and cost-effective design. This project will improve public health, safety, and quality of life by creating a safe pedestrian and bicycle friendly connection between the newly reconstructed city core and the Columbia River waterfront, including two major parks (Captain William Clark Park at Cottonwood Beach and Steamboat Landing).
