Prairie Creek Bridge Replacement

Project location map

Overview
Replace existing 50' two lane bridge with a 60' span. The new bridge will have a roadway section of 5 lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks, and illumination. This is necessary to accommodate the new 5 lane roadway section being built in phases to accommodate growth in the Grand Mound urban area.

Why are we Building This Project?
Grand Mound urban area is experiencing rapid commercial growth driven in part by the Chehalis Tribe's investment in the area.  They have opened the Great Wolf Lodge and are working with Thurston County Long Range Planning to update the Comprehensive Plan and to re-zone the urban area, adding more commercial areas.  The development is a huge economic boost to Thurston County.
To support the development that is occurring, infrastructure improvements are necessary.  Sewer and water have been installed through a Local Improvement District and by the Chehalis Tribe.  The existing roadway network also needs improvement.  Old 99 is the principal arterial that serves this area and is also a major freight route.
