Construct a new bridge over SR 520 between NE 31st St and NE 36th St to accommodate a two lane road including bike lanes, sidewalks, lighting, utilities, landscaping, a roundabout at the east approach, and other items.
Why are we Building This Project?
The 36th St bridge will provide a key connection in the Overlake neighborhood, which is divided by SR 520. The Overlake Neighborhood is one of Redmond's urban centers, and is designated as a Regional Growth Center by the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC). The project will improve traffic circulation, alleviate congestion, improve mobility, and improve pedestrian and bike connections. This project is expected to reduce vehicle miles travelled (VMT) by approximately 135,000 miles per year.
