Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: WSDOT uses the I-5 express lanes to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are rehabilitating southbound I-5 between the Duwamish River Bridge in Tukwila and South 320th Street in Federal Way.

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are improving the intersection where the southbound I-5 off- and on-ramps meet South 200th Street and Military Road South in SeaTac.
Work schedule:

  • Saturday, Jan. 14 – Officers will direct traffic at the intersection of the southbound I-5 off- and on-ramps and South 200th Street/Military Road South from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 17, to Friday, Jan. 20 - Officers will direct traffic at the intersection of the southbound I-5 off- and on-ramps and South 200th Street/Military Road South from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are replacing several expansion joints and hundreds of concrete panels on northbound I-5 between Martin Luther King Junior Way South/SR 900 in Tukwila and Northeast Ravenna Boulevard in Seattle.

  • Saturday, Jan. 21, to the morning of Sunday, Jan. 22 - Up to three left lanes of the northbound I-5 mainline from the Yesler Way overpass to the Denny Way overpass will be closed beginning with one lane at 11:59 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 8 a.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 21, to the morning of Sunday, Jan. 22 - The northbound I-5 off-ramp to Seneca Street will be closed from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 21, to the morning of Sunday, Jan. 22 - The University Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 21, to the morning of Sunday, Jan. 22 - The I-5 express lanes will remain closed until 9 a.m., when they will open southbound. 

 

Snohomish County

116th Street NE Interchange Improvements - Tulalip Tribes Project

Description: Tulalip Tribes contractor crews are replacing the I-5/116th Street Northeast interchange near Marysville to reduce congestion and provide more capacity.

SR 531 Vic to Stillaguamish River Paving and ADA Compliance - #8825

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are repaving both directions of I-5 near Arlington, along with the off- and on-ramps at SR 530 and the Smokey Point Rest Area on-ramp to southbound I-5.

Fisher Creek - Fish Passage - #8840

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are removing a culvert, building twin 110-foot-long bridges and rebuilding the creek bed to a more natural state to allow for better fish passage.

  • Until further notice - Northbound I-5 will be reduced to two lanes and detoured to a median bypass lane between Starbird Road and SR 534 over Fisher Creek. The speed limit is reduced to 60 mph.
Hill Ditch Bridge to Joe Leary Slough Paving - #8863

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are repaving sections in both directions of I-5 between Cameron Way in Mount Vernon and Chuckanut Drive/SR 11 in Burlington, along with seven on- and off-ramps.

Whatcom County

Bellingham Emergency Rock Removal Work

Description: WSDOT contractor crews will be moving rocks and stabilizing a slope.
Work schedule:

  • No lane closures are currently scheduled.
  • Landscaping crews are wrapping up work on this emergency slope repair by putting down hydro seed in the work area.
