Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: WSDOT uses the I-5 express lanes to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

NB S 260th St to Duwamish River Br Concrete Pavement Rehab and ADA - #8992

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are rehabilitating northbound I-5 between South 260th Street in Des Moines and the Duwamish River Bridge in Tukwila.

  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Aug. 18, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 21 - Northbound I-5 traffic will be reduced to two lanes between SR 516 and Southcenter beginning at 8 p.m. Friday. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Aug. 18, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 21 - The eastbound and westbound SR 516 on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Aug. 18, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 21 - The northbound I-5 off- and on-ramps at South 200th Street/Military Road will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Aug. 18, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 21 - The northbound I-5 off- and on-ramps at South 188th Street/Orillia Road will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
  • Monday, Aug. 21, to the morning of Friday, Aug. 25 - Up to four lanes of northbound I-5 between SR 516 and Interurban Avenue South will be closed nightly beginning with the left lane at 8 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Aug. 25, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 28 - Northbound I-5 traffic will be reduced to two lanes between the I-405/SR 518 interchange and the Duwamish River Bridge beginning at 8 p.m. Friday. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Aug. 25, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 28 - The southbound I-405 HOV off-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
NB MLK Jr Way to NE Ravenna Br Pavement Repair - #8952

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are replacing 37 expansion joints and large sections of concrete pavement on northbound I-5 between MLK Junior Way South/SR 900 in Tukwila and Northeast Ravenna Boulevard in Seattle.

Lynnwood Pavement Repair Work

  • Thursday, Aug. 24, to the morning of Friday, Aug. 25 - The three left lanes of northbound I-5 between 220th Street Southwest and 44th Avenue West will be closed, starting with the far left lane at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m.
Et Al 5th Ave Vic to I-5 Paving, ADA Compliance & Expansion Joints - #9053

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are grinding and repaving SR 526/Boeing Freeway in Everett from west of Evergreen Way to Southeast Everett Mall Way.

  • Saturday, Aug. 19, to the morning of Sunday, Aug. 20 - One lane in both directions of Southeast Everett Mall Way/Broadway at SR 526 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. All lanes in both directions of Broadway between SR 526 and Beverly Boulevard will close from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. A signed detour will be set up. Drivers heading north on Southeast Everett Mall Way will still be able to use the on-ramp to southbound I-5.
Ebey Slough Bridge to SR 531 Interchange Paving and ADA Compliance - #9028

Description: About 15 miles of I-5 is getting a new layer of asphalt in the Marysville area during the summer of 2017. This project will repave an 8-mile stretch of southbound I-5 from just north of SR 531 to SR 529. Crews will also repave about 7 miles of northbound I-5 from SR 529 to just north of 136th Street Northeast.

  • Sunday, Aug. 20, to the morning of Friday, Aug. 25 – The two right lanes of southbound I-5 between the State Route 528/4th Street and Twin Lakes Park will be closed nightly beginning with the right lane at 7 p.m. nightly. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 20, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 21 - The southbound I-5 off-ramp to 116th Street Northeast will be closed from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly.
  • Sunday, Aug. 20, to the morning of Monday, Aug. 21 - The 116th Street Northeast on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly.
  • Monday, Aug. 21, to the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 23 – The southbound I-5 exit to 88th Street Northeast will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 22, to the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 23 – The 88th Street Northeast on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 23, to the morning of Friday, Aug. 25 – The southbound I-5 exit to State Route 528 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Thursday, Aug. 24, to the morning of Friday, Aug. 25 – The State Route 528 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
NB SR 531 Vic to Stillaguamish River Vic Paving and ADA Compliance - #8825

Description: WSDOT contractor crews repaved 2.6 miles of cracked and rutted asphalt on northbound I-5 between SR 531 and the Stillaguamish River Bridge. The on- and off-ramps at SR 530 and the Smokey Point Rest Area on-ramp to southbound I-5 were also repaved. We are now performing grinding and updating drainage markings.

Arlington Stillaguamish River Bridge Inspection Work

Description: WSDOT bridge maintenance crews are inspecting the Stillaguamish River Bridge on I-5 in Arlington.

  • Monday, Sept. 18 – The left lane of northbound I-5 at the Stillaguamish River Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fisher Creek Fish Passage - #8840

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are removing a culvert, building twin 110-foot-long bridges and rebuilding the creek bed to a more natural state to allow for better fish passage.

  • Until further notice - Northbound I-5 traffic is using the new bridge over Fisher Creek just past Starbird Road. The left lane is closed until further notice and the speed limit is reduced to 60 mph. Expect this lane closure to be in place until October as crews use the median to work on stream restoration.
Hill Ditch Bridge to Joe Leary Slough Paving - #8863

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are repaving sections in both directions of I-5 between Starbird Way and SR 11/Chuckanut Drive in Skagit County. The seven on-and-off-ramps in this stretch are included in the work zone.

WSDOT Maintenance Work

Description: WSDOT maintenance crews will be repairing and replacing sections of the concrete median barrier that were damaged in a crash.
Work schedule:

  • Friday, Aug. 18, to the morning of Saturday, Aug. 19 - The left lane of northbound and southbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m.  between SR 538/College Way and George Hopper Road as crews replaced damaged barrier. One lane will remain open in each direction.
