Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: WSDOT uses the I-5 express lanes to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

  • Sunday, May 28 - The I-5 express lanes will close at 8 a.m. for the Emerald City Bike Ride. The lanes will open southbound by 10:30 a.m.
SB S 320th St to Duwamish River Br Concrete Pavement Rehab - #8816

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are rehabilitating southbound I-5 between the Duwamish River Bridge in Tukwila and South 320th Street in Federal Way.

  • Tuesday, May 30, to the morning of Friday, June 2 - Three lanes of southbound I-5 between Interurban Avenue South and I-405 will be closed nightly beginning with one lane at 8 p.m. All lanes will reopen by noon daily. This work is weather dependent.

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are rehabilitating northbound I-5 between South 260th Street in Des Moines and the Duwamish River Bridge in Tukwila.

  • Tuesday, May 30, to the morning of Friday, June 2 - Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 between SR 516 and Interurban Avenue South will be closed nightly beginning with the left lane at 8 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
  • Tuesday, May 30, to the morning of Wednesday, May 31 – The northbound I-5 off-ramp to westbound SR 516 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
  • Wednesday, May 31, to the morning of Thursday, June 1 – The South 200th Street/Military Road South on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, June 2, to the morning of Monday, June 5 – Northbound I-5 traffic will be reduced to two lanes between SR 516 in Federal Way and Southcenter Parkway in SeaTac beginning at 8 p.m. Friday. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, June 2, to the morning of Monday, June 5 – The South 200th Street/Military Road South off- and on-ramps at northbound I-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, June 2, to the morning of Monday, June 5 – The South 188th Street off- and on-ramps at northbound I-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.

S 200th St / Military Rd Intersection Improvements - #8883

Seattle Bridge Deck Repair Work

Description: WSDOT maintenance crews are performing bridge deck repair work on southbound I-5 in Seattle.
Work schedule:

  • **HIGH IMPACT** Saturday, June 3, to the morning of Sunday, June 4 – Southbound I-5 traffic will be reduced to two lanes on the Ship Canal Bridge from 2 to 10 a.m. daily.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Saturday, June 3 – The Northeast 45th Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed from 2 to 10 a.m.
Ebey Slough Bridge to SR 531 Interchange Paving and ADA Compliance - #9028

Description: About 15 miles of Interstate 5 is getting a new layer of asphalt in the Marysville area during the summer of 2017. This project will repave an 8-mile stretch of southbound I-5 from just north of SR 531 to SR 529. Crews will also repave about 7 miles of northbound I-5 from SR 529 to just north of 136th Street Northeast.

  • Tuesday, May 30, to the morning of Friday, June 2 – The two right lanes of northbound I-5 between the Ebey Slough Bridge and the SR 531 interchange will be closed, starting with the far right lane at 8 p.m. Both lanes will reopen by 9 a.m.
  • Tuesday, May 30, to the morning of Friday, June 2 – The northbound I-5 off-ramp to 88th Street Northeast will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Tuesday, May 30, to the morning of Friday, June 2 – The 88th Street Northeast on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Lynnwood Overhead Sign Repair Work

Work schedule:

  • Friday, June 2 – The two lanes of the northbound I-5 off-ramp to 164th Street Southwest will be closed, starting with the far right lane at 12:01 a.m. Both lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. The exit will remain open.
Marysville Sign Repair Work

Description: WSDOT maintenance crews are repairing a sign on southbound I-5 in Marysville.

  • Thursday, June 8, to the morning of Friday, June 9 - The right lane of southbound I-5 at SR 538/Marine View Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Fisher Creek Fish Passage - #8840

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are removing a culvert, building twin 110-foot-long bridges and rebuilding the creek bed to a more natural state to allow for better fish passage.

  • Until further notice - Northbound I-5 traffic will be reduced to two lanes and detoured to a median bypass lane between Starbird Road and SR 534. The speed limit is reduced to 60 mph.
Hill Ditch Bridge to Joe Leary Slough Paving - #8863

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are repaving sections in both directions of I-5 between Starbird Way and SR 11/Chuckanut Drive in Skagit County. The seven on-and-off-ramps in this stretch are included in the work zone.

  • Tuesday, May 30, to the morning of Friday, June 2 - Contractor crews will close the right lane of I-5 in various areas and in both directions from Starbird Road (milepost 218) and SR 11/Chuckanut Drive (milepost 231) between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly to restripe the highway.
Skagit River Bridge Inspection

Description: WSDOT bridge maintenance crews are performing a bi-annual inspection of the Skagit River Bridge.
Work schedule:

  • Saturday, June 10 - The right lane of southbound I-5 at the Skagit River Bridge will be closed from 5 to 9 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 11 - The right lane of northbound I-5 at the Skagit River Bridge will be closed from 5 to 9 a.m.
  • No lane or ramp closures are scheduled.
