Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: WSDOT uses the I-90 express lanes to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

Work schedule:

  • Sunday, Dec. 4 – The I-90 express lanes will close at 6 a.m. then open westbound from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a Seattle Seahawks football game. The lanes will open eastbound by 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 6 – The I-90 express lanes will have an early reversal due to forecasted weather. The lanes will open to westbound traffic at 1 a.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 24 – The I-90 express lanes will close at 6 a.m. then open westbound from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for a Seattle Seahawks football game. The lanes will open eastbound by 3:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 25, to Monday, Dec. 26 – The I-90 express lanes will operate on the weekend schedule for the Christmas holiday.
  • Sunday, Jan. 1, to Monday, Jan. 2 – The I-90 express lanes will operate on the weekend schedule for the New Year holiday.
Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations (Stage 3) - #8662

Description: WSDOT and Sound Transit contractor crews are adding HOV lanes to both directions of I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue and preparing the center roadway for East Link light rail.

Work schedule:

  • Until further notice - Flammable cargo will be prohibited from traveling on both directions of I-90 inside the Mount Baker and Mercer Island Lid tunnels until further notice.
  • Monday, Dec. 5, to the morning of Friday, Dec. 9 – A single lane in either direction of I-90 at Island Crest Way will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Monday, Dec. 5, to the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 7 – Up to two lanes in either direction of I-90 inside the Mount Baker Tunnel will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 6, to the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 7 – The northbound Rainer Avenue South on-ramp to eastbound I-90 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.
  • Thursday, Dec. 8, to the morning of Friday, Dec. 9 - The Island Crest Way on-ramp to westbound I-90 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.
  • Thursday, Dec. 8, to the morning of Friday, Dec. 9 – The right lane of westbound I-90 inside the Mercer Island Lid will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

 

SR 520

West Approach Bridge North - #8625

Description: The West Approach Bridge North Project is the latest phase of construction of the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program and will extend SR 520's three westbound lanes from the new floating bridge to the Montlake area in Seattle.

Work Schedule:

  • Until further notice - There will be intermittent rolling slowdowns on the Montlake Boulevard East/SR 513 on-ramp to eastbound SR 520 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday to Friday.
  • Until further notice – A single lane of Lake Washington Boulevard East between Montlake Boulevard East/SR 513 and 24th Avenue East will be intermittently closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday to Friday. Flaggers will alternate traffic through the open lane.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Dec. 2, to the morning of Saturday, Dec. 3 - All lanes of westbound SR 520 between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard East/SR 513 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 6, to the morning of Friday, Dec. 9 – Two right lanes of westbound SR 520 on the floating bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Dec. 9, to the morning of Monday, Dec. 12 – Both directions of SR 520 between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard/SR 513 will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. A signed detour will be in place. This work is weather dependent.
Evergreen Point Floating Bridge and Landings Project - #8066

Description: The SR 520 Floating Bridge and Landings project will replace the old SR 520 floating bridge and approaches from the future west approach structure east of Foster Island in Seattle to Evergreen Point Road in Medina.

NE 124th St Vic to Tolt River Bridge Paving and ADA Compliance - #8866
