Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: WSDOT uses the I-90 express lanes to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

  • Saturday, Jan. 28, to Monday, Jan. 30 - The eastbound I-90 express lanes will close at 6 a.m. then open westbound at 7 a.m. through the normal Monday schedule.
Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations (Stage 3) - #8662

Description: WSDOT and Sound Transit contractor crews are adding HOV lanes to both directions of I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue and preparing the center roadway for East Link light rail.

Work schedule:

  • Until further notice – Flammable cargo is prohibited from traveling in both directions of I-90 inside the Mount Baker and Mercer Island Lid Tunnels until further notice.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Friday, Jan. 13, to the morning of Monday, Jan. 16 - Eastbound I-90 traffic will be reduced to one lane near Rainier Avenue South then routed to the express lanes from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Tuesday, Jan. 17, to the morning of Thursday, Jan. 19 – Westbound I-90 traffic will be reduced to one lane near East Mercer Way then routed to the express lanes from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
  • Thursday, Jan. 19, to the morning of Friday, Jan. 20 – A single lane of eastbound I-90 east of the Mount Baker tunnel will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Thursday, Jan. 19, to the morning of Friday, Jan. 20 – Two right lanes of westbound I-90 at Island Crest Way will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

 

SR 520

West Approach Bridge North - #8625

Description: The West Approach Bridge North Project is the latest phase of construction of the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program and will extend SR 520's three westbound lanes from the new floating bridge to the Montlake area in Seattle.

Evergreen Point Floating Bridge and Landings Project - #8066

Description: The SR 520 Floating Bridge and Landings project will replace the old SR 520 floating bridge and approaches from the future west approach structure east of Foster Island in Seattle to Evergreen Point Road in Medina.

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are repaving areas of SR 202 in Redmond and between Redmond and Fall City and upgrading 17 pedestrian ramps in Redmond.
