SEATTLE – The Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division (WSF) reminds travelers to prepare for heavy traffic on all ferry routes during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, Thursday, May 27 through Monday, May 31. Ferry riders should note schedule adjustments for the holiday weekend and consider traveling outside of peak times to avoid the longest waits at the terminals. Customers should be prepared for waits of 2 to 3 hours or more heading westbound on Thursday afternoon and Friday, and eastbound on Monday.
Anacortes/San Juan Islands:
- On Friday, May 28, WSF will provide an extra sailing from Anacortes to Orcas at 2:05 p.m.
- On Monday, May 31, the 2:20 p.m. sailing from Friday Harbor will go directly to Anacortes instead of making its usual island stops.
- On Monday, May 31, WSF will also provide an extra sailing from Orcas to Anacortes at 3:20 p.m.
Port Townsend/Keystone:
- WSF strongly recommends that customers make reservations in advance for travel on this route (visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or call 5-1-1). Several morning sailings will be cancelled during Memorial Day weekend due to tidal conditions. The schedule for the cancelled sailings is available on the Ferries Division website (enter “tide cancellations” in the search box).
Mukilteo/Clinton:
- This route will be on a holiday (Sunday) schedule on Monday, May 31.
Seattle/Bainbridge Island:
- This route will be on a holiday (Saturday) schedule on Monday, May 31.
Point Defiance/Tahlequah:
- This route will be on a holiday (weekend) schedule on Monday, May 31.
All other routes will be on their regular schedules throughout the holiday weekend. Visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedule for schedule details. To sign up for free e-mail alerts about service disruptions and other route information, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/email_alerts.
