VANCOUVER – The Washington State Department of Transportation and Clark County are encouraging residents, business owners, and property owners in the Salmon Creek area to attend an open house this week to learn about the Salmon Creek Interchange project and provide comments on the project’s Environmental Assessment (EA).
The open house will take place Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Alki Middle School, located at 1800 NW Bliss Road in Vancouver. No formal presentation is planned.
This $140 million project will reduce traffic congestion and improve safety in the fast-growing Salmon Creek area by constructing a new I-5 interchange at NE 139th Street, increasing capacity at the I-205 northbound off-ramp to NE 134th Street, and constructing other local road improvements to enhance regional connectivity between Vancouver, Clark County, I-5 and I-205.
The project could begin construction in late 2010 if right of way is acquired, environmental permits are obtained and the remaining funding is secured.
Project information may be reviewed and obtained prior to the open house by visiting the project Web page at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i5/NE134thI205/, or by contacting the Project Engineer. For those unable to attend the meeting, comments on the project’s EA can be sent to:
