LONGVIEW – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) invites the public to attend an open house to learn about construction and traffic impacts for the I-5, SR 432 Talley Way Interchange project.
The project will reconstruct the I-5 interchange at SR 432 (Exit 36), and the adjacent SR 432 interchange at Talley Way. This will improve traffic flow and safety at both interchanges, reduce existing and future congestion on this section of SR 432, and address weaving problems at both interchanges.
Over the course of this project, the SR 432 westbound loop ramp to I-5 southbound will be closed for up to two years to allow crews to reconstruct the interchange. In addition, the I-5 southbound loop ramp to SR 432 eastbound will be permanently removed through this project. The public is encouraged to attend to learn more about their commute options available during construction.
This $48 million project is funded through the 2005 gas tax, and federal highway improvement funds provided by the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Government.
Details of the open house are as follows:
Wednesday, October 28
4:00 – 7:00 p.m. (stop by anytime)
Cowlitz PUD, 961 12th Avenue
Longview, WA 98632
Displays of the project plans will be available for viewing at the open house. Additionally, WSDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive public feedback on project-related concerns and suggestions. There will be no formal presentations, so attendees are encouraged to stop by anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Once complete, these new interchanges will improve safety, create better connectivity to existing roads, increase capacity and decrease congestion in the area. This project will also improve freight access to I-5 from the Port of Longview. Construction is scheduled to begin this winter.
