Crews nearing completion on project to connect I-205 and NE 112th Ave.
VANCOUVER – Final construction activities for the I-205 – Mill Plain Exit – 112th Connector project will close lanes and ramps on I-205 and Mill Plain Blvd. over the next few weeks, starting Friday, Sept. 11. Drivers should be prepared for delays and plan to take alternate routes.
These closures will allow WSDOT’s contractor, Selby Bridge Co., to complete final paving, striping, signing, and embankment work and prepare the new northbound on-ramp for traffic.
Drivers should note that much of this work is highly weather-sensitive and may be cancelled or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
The closure schedule is as follows:
9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14
Drivers will encounter a continuous right-lane closure on I-205 northbound between the Mill Plain off-ramp and NE 18th St. (mileposts 28.66 to 29.34) while crews finish paving the north end of the project area. The on-ramp to I-205 northbound from Mill Plain will also be closed for paving and concrete barrier work.
5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18
Drivers traveling eastbound on Mill Plain will not be able to turn left to access the on-ramp to northbound I-205. The left turn lane on Mill Plain will be closed so crews can safely complete embankment work, construct a center island and install guardrail on the new bridge approach to Mill Plain. There will be a signed detour in place throughout the week to allow eastbound drivers to turn around and access the on-ramp heading westbound. Drivers traveling westbound on Mill Plain will have access to the temporary northbound on-ramp to I-205 during this closure.
9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21
Drivers traveling both directions on Mill Plain will encounter a full closure of the on-ramp to I-205 northbound. This closure will allow crews to finish paving and striping the new bridge approaches. Crews expect to open the new on-ramp bridge to northbound I-205 in time for the Monday morning commute.
10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28
Drivers will encounter a right lane closure on I-205 northbound and full closure of the I-205 northbound off-ramp at Mill Plain as crews complete final paving, striping and sign work along the interstate. Once work is complete, the new loop ramp from I-205 northbound to westbound Mill Plain will be open to traffic.
WSDOT will continue to inform the public of these traffic impacts before each set of closures begin. Advanced warning signs will be posted and message boards will be utilized during these closures to inform drivers of alternate routes. Drivers are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs. Drivers are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
