WHITE PASS – Drivers on US 12 will enjoy a smoother, safer drive over White Pass as the Washington State Department of Transportation wraps up a paving project on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The pavement along this portion of US 12 was badly damaged over the past few years by harsh weather and heavy traffic. The $608,608 US 12 White Pass Vicinity paving project paved two miles of US 12 over White Pass (mile posts 149 to 151.09) and replaced aging guardrail in the project area.
WSDOT’s contractor, Granite Northwest, plans to complete final construction activities by Aug. 5. Until work is complete, drivers can expect daytime single-lane closures with flaggers and pilot car operations between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Paving is a highly weather-sensitive activity. Work may be cancelled or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
