YELM – Motorists traveling through Yelm and McKenna next week on SR 507 and SR 510 can expect delays while maintenance crews make much needed repairs to pavement in the area.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, motorists traveling SR 510 in Yelm can expect flagger-controlled, one-way, alternating traffic from the intersection of Yelm Highway to the Nisqually Indian Reservation. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Crews move to SR 507 in McKenna on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 25 and 26.

On Tuesday, crews work on the northbound direction of SR 507 near the Vail Road intersection. Motorists may encounter minor delays when northbound traffic is shifted into the center turn lane. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The biggest impact to motorists comes Wednesday. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., crews close both directions of SR 507 from Old McKenna Road to Vail Road. A signed detour will be in place. The detour is as follows:

• Southbound traffic will detour onto Vail Rd, onto Bald Hills Road and then back onto SR 507.
• Northbound traffic will be detoured onto Bald Hills Road, to Vail Road and then back onto SR 507.

The Washington State Patrol and WSDOT personnel will be posted at the intersections of Four Corners and Five Corners/Bald Hills Road to keep traffic flowing. Motorists should allow extra time and plan their trips accordingly. Workers expect to be off the roadway by 4 p.m.

During the pavement repair, residents living within the work zone and emergency responders will be allowed through the area.
