BELLEVUE – WSDOT contractor crews will close all but one lane on northbound I-405 in Bellevue this weekend to pave the highway between 112th Avenue SE and NE 6th Street. Only one northbound lane will be open between 5 a.m. Sat. Aug. 15 and 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.

“Drivers must plan ahead to avoid lengthy delays,” said Seema Javeri, WSDOT Project Engineer. “We are paving sections that span the width of the freeway. To accomplish that over a weekend, we can only have one lane open at a time for drivers.”

WSDOT closes lanes on the weekend when traffic is lightest, but drivers still may face hour-long delays. The best way to avoid congestion is to take alternate routes, travel early or late or factor in extra time to get to your destination.

Saturday closures

  • At 5 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, crews will close all but one lane on northbound I-405 between 112th Street and NE Sixth Street through Monday, Aug. 17 at 5 a.m.
  • Crews will close the carpool off-ramp to NE Sixth Street from northbound I-405 at 5 a.m. It will reopen early Sunday morning.

Sunday closures

By 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, crews will close:

  • the on-ramp from Coal Creek Parkway to northbound I-405.
  • the off-ramps to eastbound and westbound I-90 from northbound I-405.
  • the off-ramp to SE Eighth Street from northbound I-405.

All ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.

Drivers who plan to use northbound I-405 to get to I-90 will be detoured north to NE Sixth Street where they will exit the freeway and return to I-405 headed in the southbound direction. Detour maps can be found at
